Summary: The study compared the efficacy and safety of using CNI+TWPs and CNI+GCs in the treatment of IMN. Results showed that both treatment options effectively reduced urinary protein excretion, but the CNI+TWPs group had lower and quicker reductions in protein levels at the sixth month.

Summary: In this study, TWG combined with ARB showed a higher remission rate for PMN patients with sub-nephrotic proteinuria compared to ARB alone. The complete remission rate was also significantly higher in the TWG + ARB group. TWG + ARB treatment was identified as an independent predictor of complete remission of proteinuria, and the combination therapy was especially beneficial for patients positive for anti-PLA2R antibodies.

Summary: In this study, a Bayesian meta-analysis was conducted to systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine (TWM) intervention plans in the treatment of idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN). The results showed that the addition of TWM may enhance the efficacy of previously established treatment protocols without additional safety risks. Specifically, GC + CNI + TWM, GC + TWM, and CNI + TWM were identified as preferred therapy plans for IMN.

Summary: This study used network pharmacology to investigate the potential therapeutic targets and pharmacological mechanisms of Thunder God Vine (Tripterygium wilfordii) for the treatment of idiopathic membranous nephropathy. The results revealed the core genes and signaling pathways involved in the treatment, providing a scientific basis for further experimental studies.

Summary: Tripterygium wilfordii Hook. f. (TWHF) and its active compounds, such as tripterygium wilfordii polyglycosides (TWPs), triptolide (TP), and celastrol, have been found to exhibit effects in attenuating diabetic nephropathy through anti-inflammation, anti-oxidative stress, anti-fibrosis, and other mechanisms.

Summary: Membranous nephropathy (MN) is a common cause of nephrotic syndrome and often recurs after kidney transplantation. The lack of sensitive biomarkers and effective therapies makes MN treatment challenging, but the discovery of PLA(2)R and THSD7A autoantibodies provides new insights.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism of testis injury induced by Tripterygium wilfordii polyglycoside tablet (TWP) in male rats. The results revealed that TWP caused significant testicular damage, affecting the blood-testis barrier function and spermatogenesis. The mechanism might be related to glutathione metabolism and ferroptosis.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects and safety of Tripterygium wilfordii polyglycoside (TWP) in the treatment of IgA nephropathy through a meta-analysis. The results showed that TWP can effectively improve remission rates, reduce proteinuria, and protect kidney function. However, more high-quality studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: This study investigated the ferroptosis resistance of the traditional Chinese medicine Guilu-Erxian-Glue (GLEXG) in improving semen quality in the oligoasthenospermia (OAS) rat model. The results showed that high-dose GLEXG significantly improved sperm concentration and motility, mitigated testicular histopathology, and activated the Keap1/Nrf2/GPX4 pathway to reduce oxidative stress and iron levels, and restore sperm mitochondrial morphology and potential. Targeting ferroptosis may be a novel approach for OAS therapy.

Summary: TWP effectively alleviated experimental rat colitis by regulating innate immune responses and the balance of Th17/Treg in the intestinal mucosa, peripheral blood, MLN, and spleen. Additionally, TWP modulated the differentiation of CD4(+) T-cells isolated from patients with UC.

Summary: Researchers have identified a compound called celastrol in the roots of Tripterygium wilfordii, which has potential as an effective treatment for obesity. They have also developed a synthetic method for celastrol, allowing it to be produced from table sugar. This study demonstrates the successful combination of plant biochemistry, metabolic engineering, and chemistry for the scalable synthesis of complex specialized metabolites.

Summary: Using urinary peptidomics, differences in protein expression were identified among healthy individuals, IMN patients, and patients with other kidney diseases. A total of 1,080 peptide-matched proteins were identified, 279 of which were differentially expressed in IMN patients, leading to the prediction of 32 proteases. Abnormal expression of these proteases in the glomeruli of IMN patients was confirmed, suggesting dysregulation of the calpain/matrix metalloproteinase/cathepsin axis in IMN.

Summary: A discriminant model based on demographic information and laboratory parameters was developed to efficiently distinguish MMN and IMN, with a diagnostic power of 0.860 and 0.870 in the training and test groups, respectively. The model showed good calibration capability and clinical utility, highlighting the importance of carefully monitoring patients with higher scores for the presence of tumors in clinical practice.
