This study investigates the effect of 10 wt% Mo alloying of NiCrBSi hardfacing on the microstructure and dry sliding wear performance at room temperature and elevated temperatures up to 700 degrees C. Mo additions refined the boride and carbide phases in the microstructure and formed a Mo-rich boro-carbide along with a 20% drop in its hardness. It further improved the wear resistance at all tested temperatures due to the formation of Mo oxides on the worn surfaces.
