Summary: Conditional Nedd4-2 deficiency in adult mice leads to impaired mucociliary clearance and accumulation of Muc5b, ultimately resulting in progressive pulmonary fibrosis. Ultrastructural alterations of the alveolar epithelium are correlated with interstitial remodeling, with abnormal regeneration of the alveolar epithelium contributing to the process.

Summary: Prenatal exposure to phthalates, specifically DEHP, is associated with changes in DNA methylation levels in cord blood, particularly with genes related to metabolism, endocrine system, and signal transduction. These methylation changes are inversely associated with newborns' ponderal index and may mediate the impact of DEHP exposure on fetal growth. Further research is needed to fully understand the predictive value of DNA methylation for offspring obesity.

Summary: One of the main limitations in in vitro studies on lung diseases is maintaining the specific phenotype of alveolar epithelial cells. This study successfully maintained the phenotype of cells using lung-derived extracellular matrix hydrogels, and found that the hydrogels can promote long-term culture of alveolar epithelial cells.

Summary: ABCA-3 deficiency was studied in primary nasal epithelial cells as a surrogate culture model for AT-II cells. Expression of ABCA3, SP-B, and SP-C was detected in primary nasal epithelial cells, but at a lower level compared to AT-II cells. Immunofluorescence microscopy showed the presence of ABCA-3, SP-B, and SP-C in primary nasal epithelial cells, while western blotting did not detect SP-B and SP-C proteins. Transmission electron microscopy revealed structurally imperfect lamellar bodies in primary nasal epithelial cells.

Summary: DEHP, widely used as a plasticizer in consumer products, has been linked to adverse health effects, prompting the need for toxicological assessment. Zebrafish embryos have become a popular in vivo model for studying DEHP toxicity, aiming to assess both acute and chronic effects on different developmental stages.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the differential impact of A(H1N1)pdm09 and A/Victoria/3/75 (H3N2) strains on costimulatory molecules and ProSP-C expression in AECII from BALB/c mice and A549 cell line. The results showed a significant decrease in ProSP-C expression in AECII and A549 cell line with A(H1N1)pdm09 compared to A/Victoria/3/75 (H3N2) and controls (non-infection conditions).

Summary: This study aimed to explore the molecular mechanism of DEHP/MEHP-induced hepatic lipid metabolism disorders. The results showed that DEHP/MEHP promoted the expression of Notch pathway molecules and led to lipid accumulation. Inhibiting the Notch pathway reversed the inflammation and lipid accumulation caused by MEHP. This study revealed that DEHP/MEHP induced lipid accumulation by up-regulating the Notch pathway, with inflammation playing a key role in the process.

Summary: This study evaluated the association between airway obstruction (AO) and airway tone in guinea pigs. The results suggest that different types of AO and airway tone depend on different airway smooth muscle phenotypes: direct and indirect AO seem to be sensitive to the level of oxidative stress, while indirect obstruction induced by antigen appears to be influenced by the expression of TGF-β1, and the expression level of SERCA2b plays a role in airway tone.

Summary: Asthma is a condition where the airways become inflamed and narrowed, causing symptoms such as shortness of breath and wheezing. It was found that 6-aminoflavone (6-NH2F) can effectively relax the airways and has low toxicity in animal models, potentially through calcium channel blockade.
