Summary: Origanum majorana, a famous spice plant in Egypt, has various medicinal uses. The ethanol extract of O. majorana was found to significantly reduce NO release. Ten compounds were isolated and identified from the extract, including some for the first time from this genus. Compounds 9 and 10 demonstrated better efficacy in reducing NO content compared to compound 1.

Summary: The study isolated two phytoisols, SA-1 and SA-4, from Swertia alata C.B Clarke and found that SA-4 exhibited more effective COX-1/COX-2 inhibitory activity and significant gastric tolerance in ulcerogenic study compared to SA-1. This research concludes that compound SA-4 has significant anti-inflammatory activity and less irritant property over gastric mucosa with minimal ulcerogenicity.

Summary: Gallic acid (GA) is a bioactive phytoconstituent that shows potential in preventing various diseases. This review summarizes the anti-diabetic and cardioprotective effects of GA and proposes a molecular mechanism for its anti-diabetic effects. The findings suggest that GA exerts its effects through antioxidant enzyme systems and non-enzymatic defense mechanisms.
