Summary: LOX and LOXL2 are amine oxidases that catalyze cross-linking reactions of elastin and collagen in connective tissue, with LOXL2 showing high expression in certain tumors. Inhibition of LOX and LOXL2 is considered a promising strategy for preventing metastasis and invasion of breast cancer. Novel synthetic compounds acting as selective inhibitors for LOX/LOXL2 or dual LOX/LOXL inhibitors have been developed, showing potential for effective therapeutic approaches in breast cancer treatment.

Summary: The study revealed that LOXL2 plays a critical role in temporomandibular joint OA, showing decreased expression in TMJOA-like lesions induced by mechanical stress/IL-beta in both in vivo and in vitro models. Treatment with recombinant LOXL2 ameliorated degenerative changes induced by mechanical stress in vivo, while inhibition of LOXL2 exacerbated these changes. The Integrin/FAK pathway may be a key downstream pathway in the protective role of LOXL2 in TMJOA-like changes induced by mechanical stress.

Summary: This study demonstrates the inhibitory effect of MIR29A on LOX, LOXL2, and VEGFA by targeting their 3' UTRs, leading to promotion of apoptosis and reduction in cell viability and wound healing. The results confirm that MIR29A-3p mimic can directly bind to the 3' UTRs of LOX and VEGFA to downregulate their gene and protein expression levels.

Summary: Lysyl oxidases are multifunctional proteins involved in the biosynthesis and maturation of connective tissues. Their overexpression is associated with fibrosis and cancer, while their propeptide has tumor-suppressing effects. In diabetic retinopathy, lysyl oxidases are overexpressed and their propeptide levels are elevated. Further research is needed to understand the activities and mechanisms of lysyl oxidase propeptide.

Summary: Kidney fibrosis is associated with chronic kidney disease progression, and LOX enzymes play important roles in regulating extracellular components and facilitating fibrosis. LOXL2 is abundantly expressed in HK2 cells and its inhibition suppresses TGF-beta 1-mediated fibrotic processes. LOXL2 is secreted into the extracellular spaces by exosomes, and Nglycosylation on asparagine residues and N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase 5 are involved in LOXL2 secretion. TGF-beta 1 promotes LOXL2 secretion and may contribute to kidney fibrosis.

Summary: The mechanism of the angiogenic potential in hypoxia-pretreated dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) was investigated by studying the exosomes secreted by these cells. It was found that these exosomes promote angiogenesis via transfer of lysyl oxidase-like 2 (LOXL2).

Summary: Fibrotic scarring is a critical factor in ARDS, but current trials using a LOXL2 inhibitory antibody failed to show benefits. LOXL2 plays a key role in promoting fibrotic scarring by contributing to collagen cross-linking. Inhibiting LOXL2 may not be enough to prevent fibrotic scarring in patients with lung fibrosis, highlighting the need for further research on alternative therapeutic targets.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the relationship between LOXL2 and immune infiltration and vasculogenic mimicry (VM) and to identify the role of LOXL2 in HCC diagnosis and prognosis evaluation. The findings showed that LOXL2 expression was higher in HCC than in normal tissues, and high LOXL2 expression was associated with a poorer prognosis of HCC. LOXL2 is involved in immune cell infiltration and promotes VM by upregulating IQGAP1, making it a potential biomarker for HCC diagnosis and prognosis prediction.

Summary: A new synergistic indicator is introduced to evaluate the synergistic effects of carbon mitigation on air pollutant reduction and public health in China. The results show that synergistic effects played an increasingly important role in emissions mitigation, leading to reductions in pollutants and improvements in air quality and public health. With urbanization and carbon neutrality, synergistic effects are expected to continue to increase.

Summary: This study explores the shift of roles from help giver to help seeker among employees by investigating their help-giving and following help-seeking behavior. The study proposes two contradictory psychological processes, consistency and licensing, for employees to determine whether to seek help after giving help. The study differentiates between autonomous help-seeking and dependent help-seeking and suggests that help-giving has a stronger effect on dependent help-seeking. Leader respect is identified as a moderator to solve the opposite effects of help-giving on subsequent help-seeking. The results show that the negative (positive) relationship between help-giving and dependent help-seeking is mediated by personal reputation and reputation maintenance concerns, while the results regarding autonomous help-seeking are inconsistent. Leader respect weakens the positive relationship between help-giving and autonomous help-seeking in one study and strengthens the negative relationship in two studies. The study discusses theoretical implications for helping literature, self-regulation theory, and moral behavior research.

Summary: A model predictive control (MPC)-based compound control algorithm is proposed to suppress the anti-regulation characteristics of variable flow ducted rockets. A mathematical model is developed to analyze the anti-regulation, and a fused feedback variable is constructed to accurately predict the gas flow and the anti-regulation. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves superior performance compared to previous methods in balancing the response rate and the anti-regulation of gas flow systems.

Summary: This research reports the first sensitive and selective fluorescent off-on UGT1A10 probe substrate called UPr6, which can be used to monitor the function of UGT1A10 in biological systems. Through a collaborative modification strategy, the researchers designed UPr6 by introducing a rigid propyl morpholine group and a methoxy group to the amide and 4'-phenoxy positions, respectively. The study also discovered two natural products from licorice as potent UGT1A10 inhibitors, which improved the sensitivity of CPT-11 against a resistant human cancer cell line. This work established a feasible strategy for designing isoform-specific UGT probe substrates.

Summary: GF/MoS2/PTFE composites were produced with different molding pressures (50-70 MPa), and their mechanical and tribological properties were evaluated. The results showed that the properties of the composites varied depending on the molding pressure. At a molding pressure of 50 MPa, the composites displayed the best mechanical properties. The lowest wear rate and friction coefficient were observed at molding pressures of 60 MPa and 70 MPa, respectively. SEM analysis suggested that increased molding pressure led to greater residual stresses and surface furrows.

Summary: In this paper, an energy-preserving collocation integrator is derived for solving hyperbolic Hamiltonian systems. Two specific high-order energy-preserving and symmetric integrators are presented by choosing collocation nodes as two and three Gauss-Legendre points, respectively. The convergence and symmetry of the constructed energy-preserving integrators are rigorously analyzed. Numerical results confirm the energy conservation property and accuracy of the proposed integrators.

Summary: In this study, an analytical treatment was conducted to quantitatively evaluate the growth retardation of bainitic transformation (BT) in HSLA steels. By analyzing the thermodynamic driving force ΔG and kinetic energy barrier Q, along with modeling the transformed fraction, unified expressions for thermo-kinetic correlation and generalized stability (GS) were derived. The current model, based on a proposed criterion of high ΔG-high GS, can be used to design the BT to produce bainitic microstructure with high strength and high plasticity, as confirmed by experimental results.
