Summary: This study aimed to investigate the prognostic factors in patients with thymoma who underwent radical resection and establish a nomogram to predict their prognosis. Smoking status and tumor size were identified as risk factors for progression-free survival (PFS), while high neutrophil count was an independent prognostic factor for overall survival (OS). The nomograms developed accurately predict PFS and OS rates at 5 and 10 years based on individual characteristics.

Summary: A multivariate analysis in Japan found that American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status and extent of gastrectomy were independent risk factors for mortality in gastric cancer patients. Avoiding gastrectomy including cardia can reduce the risk of death.

Summary: This study evaluated the diagnostic accuracy and safety of CT-guided percutaneous core needle biopsy (PCNB) for lung cancer in patients with usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP). The results showed that CT-guided PCNB had reasonable accuracy for diagnosing lung cancer, although there was a slightly higher percentage of nondiagnostic results. The rate of complications was also acceptable.

Summary: The study collected data from 496 advanced HCC patients who underwent liver resection and identified different risk groups based on a prognostic score, finding that the low-risk group had significantly longer recurrence-free survival compared to the high-risk group. The prognostic score showed good predictive accuracy in survival outcomes.

Summary: The study confirmed that the preoperative GPR and ALR-GPR-PLR score models were independent predictors for DFS and OS in patients with HCC, and showed good performance in stratifying patients with different outcomes.

Summary: A retrospective study evaluating the predicted value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in the diagnosis of early prostate cancer using standardized full blood count (FBC) and histology results showed no significant difference in NLR between benign and prostate cancer groups. NLR was not found to be associated with prostate cancer or predictive of Gleason grade group and D'Amico risk stratification group. The study suggests that NLR may have a limited role in predicting early-stage prostate cancer.

Summary: The modified systemic inflammation score (mSIS) system is a promising prognostic tool for malignant breast tumor patients who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). Patients in the mSIS low-risk group had better overall survival rates and disease-free survival rates, and combining mSIS with pathological complete response (pCR) enhanced the ability to predict pCR.

Summary: This study analyzed data from 705 ESCC patients who underwent minimally invasive surgery and found that the greatest improvement in conditional survival for patients who survived a period after surgery was observed at 2 years post-surgery. The study also suggests that patients with anastomotic leak and higher T and N stages should be closely monitored at different time points, and conditional survival should be used as a powerful prognostic tool for ESCC patients.

Summary: VETC expression in HCC is strongly correlated with malignant potential and overall survival after LDLT. VETC(+) patients have lower CD3(+) cell ratios, indicating a relationship between VETC activity and lymphocyte activity. Combination of VETC expression with low CD3 levels is an independent risk factor for mortality.

Summary: This study evaluated the predictive value of quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) in the outcome of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients who underwent mechanical thrombectomy (MT) and assessed the correlation between clinical outcome and QEEG and CT perfusion (CTP) data. The results suggest that QEEG indices may have a certain predictive value for the outcome of AIS patients who underwent MT.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 106 HCC patients who underwent liver transplantation and found that elevated preoperative serum Leucine aminopeptidases were associated with advanced tumor stage and aggressive biological behavior, leading to poor prognosis. Serum LAPs, macro-vascular invasion and the largest tumor size were independently correlated with disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in these patients. Serum LAPs could also distinguish prognosis among patients with different tumor characteristics and selection criteria.

Summary: This study compared the prognostic and predictive ability of lung adenocarcinoma biopsies and resection specimens. The findings showed that a high-grade growth pattern in biopsy specimens was associated with prognosis, and a model combining clinical, histological, and genetic information had good performance in predicting overall survival.

Summary: This retrospective study examines the short-term changes in renal function after surgical aortic valve replacement and its impact on long-term outcomes. The study finds that patients with stage 3 and 4 kidney disease tend to have stable or improved renal function after the procedure, while patients at stages 1 and 2 are at increased risk of deterioration. Deterioration in kidney function is associated with higher ten-year mortality, while improvement in kidney function trends towards improved survival.
