Trop2 is considered to have an important function in tumor metastasis and the promotion of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). E-cadherin is a crucial factor in intercellular adhesion and EMT transformation. In the present study, we detected the expression of Trop2 and E-cadherin in breast cancer (BC) to better define their prognostic value. The mRNA expression levels of these two genes in 20 cases of fresh BC tissues were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). We also detected the expression levels of these two genes by immunohistochemistry (IHC) in 312 BC tissues, and the correlations between the expression of these two genes and the clinicopathological characteristics in BC patients were analyzed. The mRNA and protein expression levels of the two genes in BC cell lines were studied by qRT-PCR and western blotting. The results indicated that Trop2(+)/E-cadherin(-) was expressed in BC tissues more than that in the matched adjacent tissues. The protein expression results obtained via IHC were similar to the mRNA expression results. Trop2(+)/E-cadherin(-) that was expressed in BC was associated with lymph node status, metastasis, tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage, and ER-/PR-/HER2(-) expression. BC patients that expressed Trop2(+)/E-cadherin(-) had poor overall survival rates. The results of Trop2 and E-cadherin expression levels obtained in the BC cell lines were the same as those obtained in the BC tissues. Overall, Trop2 has a potential role in the promotion of EMT in BC and it could be considered as a therapeutic target in the future.

Zhibo gonghui: China's 'live-streaming guilds' of manipulation experts

Tingting Liu, Chris K. K. Tan, Xiaobing Yang, Miao Li

Summary: The live-streaming industry in China is huge and highly competitive, leading to the formation of "live-streaming guilds" where streamers join forces to improve their rankings on various platforms. This article explores one such guild that operates on the Zhubei platform, revealing how these guilds optimize streamers' performances based on algorithmic parameters disclosed by the platforms. Interestingly, the guilds also manipulate audience reactions by having male workers pose as female streamers to attract generous tipping from straight male viewers.

Spatial and temporal analysis of the increasing effects of large-scale infrastructure construction on the surface urban heat island

Jikang Wan, Bin Yong, Xiaofeng Zhou

Summary: With the rapid development of China's economy and improvement of people's living standards, large-scale infrastructure constructions have increased. This study focused on the environmental thermal changes of Beijing Daxing International Airport before and after its construction and operation. The results showed that the urban surface heat island effect in the area significantly increased after the construction and operation of the airport. The random forest classification algorithm was used to analyze the relationship between land types and the urban heat island effect, revealing that the thermal pollution from the airport had a greater impact on ground objects within a range of 7.5 km.

Acinar ATP8b1/LPC pathway promotes macrophage efferocytosis and clearance of inflammation during chronic pancreatitis development

Wang-jun Yang, Rong-chang Cao, Wang Xiao, Xiao-lou Zhang, Hao Xu, Meng Wang, Zhi-tao Zhou, Huo-ji Chen, Jia Xu, Xue-mei Chen, Jun-ling Zeng, Shu-ji Li, Min Luo, Yan-jiang Han, Xiao-bing Yang, Guo-dong Feng, Yu-heng Lu, Yuan-yuan Ni, Chan-gui Wu, Jun-jie Bai, Zi-qi Yuan, Jin Jin, Guo-wei Zhang

Summary: This study investigated the role of efferocytosis in chronic pancreatitis (CP) and its underlying mechanisms. The findings suggest that impaired efferocytosis and dysregulated phospholipid metabolism contribute to the development of CP. The acinar Atp8b1/LPC pathway, regulated by the transcription factor Bhlha15, plays a protective role in CP. These findings provide potential therapeutic targets for improving current CP therapies.

Some statistical inferences of parameter in MCMC approach and the application in uncertainty analysis of hydrological simulation

Pengfei Shi, Tao Yang, Bin Yong, Chong-Yu Xu, Zhenya Li, Xiaoyan Wang, Youwei Qin, Xudong Zhou

Summary: The Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is increasingly popular in uncertainty analysis of hydrological simulation. However, the estimation of the constant standard deviation (02) in the approach is subjective, hindering performance improvement. This study investigates the statistical meaning of parameter 02 and develops a new label called Confidence Level of Model (CLM) to interpret it. The MCMC method based on CLM performs well in generating regular posterior distributions and narrow, symmetrical confidence intervals.

Tumor Cell-Derived Exosomal circ-PRKCI Promotes Proliferation of Renal Cell Carcinoma via Regulating miR-545-3p/CCND1 Axis

Yiguan Qian, Yang Li, Luwei Xu, Ke Chen, Ning Liu, Xiaobing Yang, Qian Lv, Rongfei Li, Changcheng Zhou, Zheng Xu, Ruipeng Jia, Yu-Zheng Ge

Summary: In this study, a novel circRNA called circ-PRKCI was found to promote the proliferation of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) through the miR-545-3p/CCND1 signaling pathway. It was also discovered that tumor cell-derived exosomal circ-PRKCI could enhance the proliferation, migration, and invasion of RCC cells while inhibiting apoptosis. This study provides new insights into the molecular mechanisms of RCC progression.

Xiaobing Yang, Jiahui Zhao, Dechao Wei, Tao Feng, Pengju Guo, Qiankun Li, Yongxing Wang, Yili Han, Mingchuan Li, Yongguang Jiang, Yong Luo

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the anti-tumor effects and underlying mechanisms of Enzalutamide (ENZ) and Arsenic trioxide (ATO) co-treatment on castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). The combination of ENZ and ATO significantly inhibited cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and induced cell arrest and apoptosis in C4-2B cells. The effects were further verified in subcutaneous tumor models and tissue sections from the xenografts. ENZ combination with ATO synergistically improved the therapeutic effects and suppressed CRPC progression through regulation of the ATR-CHEK1-CDC25C pathway.

Zehui Zhou, Dekai Lu, Bin Yong, Zhehui Shen, Hao Wu, Lei Yu

Summary: This study evaluates the performance of IMERG products in different spatial and temporal scales during the summer seasons in mainland China. The results show that IMERG can capture the spatial patterns of precipitation characters, but it tends to overestimate precipitation amount and intensity while underestimating precipitation frequency. The performance of IMERG improves when scaled up to coarser scales, and it shows better performance in larger regions and during longer periods.

Board culture and bank innovation: Evidence from China

Tianlei Pi, Xiaobing Yang

Summary: This study investigates the influence of board culture on bank innovation and explores the mechanisms involved. Using the cultural context of the East and state-owned bank attributes, data from China's A-share listed banks between 2003 and 2018 were analyzed. Results indicate that indicators of masculinity, indulgence, and cultural diversity are positively correlated with bank innovation, while power distance and uncertainty avoidance are negatively correlated. Further analysis reveals that the impact of Oriental culture on bank innovation is mediated by human capital investment, efficiency, and risk-taking. The findings remain robust after controlling for endogenous issues and factors such as Confucian culture.
