Summary: Four trinuclear ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes were synthesized and their excited-state properties were investigated in detail. It was observed that a para connection between the 2,2'-bipyridine chelating moieties of the bridging ligand led to a red-shifted MLCT absorption band in the visible part of the spectra.

Summary: This study investigates the fluorescence properties of 3-trifluoromethyl-pyrazoles containing triphenylamine and carbazole groups, as well as their silver complexes, in both solution and solid state. The results show that the electronic coupling between triphenylamine substituent and pyrazole leads to fluorescence emission in solution, while the rigid structure of the N-ethyl carbazole substituent results in typical carbazole-centered fluorescence. Aggregation plays a major role in determining the emission properties in the solid state.

Summary: This review discusses the applications of Zn(II) carboxylate-based coordination polymers (Zn-CBCPs) in sensors, catalysts, infection and cancer treatment, as well as storage and drug-carrier materials. The luminescence properties of Zn-CBCPs, which are modulated by the nature of organic luminophores and their intermolecular interactions, allow for the sensing of various inorganic and organic pollutants. Zn-CBCPs, due to the Lewis acidity of Zn(II), can be used for dye elimination in wastewater through photocatalysis or inhibition of pathogenic microorganisms and tumors. Additionally, the porous structure of Zn-CBCPs enables the storage of gaseous or liquid molecules and improved drug delivery.

Summary: A novel radical relay 1,4-carboimination between two distinct olefins with alkyl carboxylic acid-derived bifunctional oxime esters was achieved via energy transfer catalysis. The reaction showed high chemo- and regioselectivity, forming multiple C-C and C-N bonds in a single operation. This mild and metal-free method exhibited a broad substrate scope and excellent tolerance of sensitive functional groups, providing easy access to structurally diverse 1,4-carboiminated products. Furthermore, the obtained imines could be readily converted into valuable biologically relevant free gamma-amino acids.

Summary: The crystal packing of heterobinuclear complexes forms large and small channels, with large channels padded by CF3 groups. The diameter of the large channels is around 1.2 nm. Crystals 1b, obtained by removing solvent molecules from 1a, can host iodine molecules in the small channels: 0.33I2/[ZnDy] 1c. The separation of trifluoromethyl groups is observed in all compounds.

Summary: The number of implanted prosthetic joints is increasing due to longer life spans and increased mobility in older individuals. Unfortunately, the number of periprosthetic joint infections (PJIs), a severe complication after joint replacement surgery, is also on the rise. Efficient protocols for managing these infections can lead to preventive measures and effective diagnostic methods using laboratory tests. This review discusses current methods for PJI diagnosis and emerging synovial biomarkers used for prognosis, prophylaxis, and early detection of periprosthetic infections, as well as factors contributing to treatment failure.

Summary: We report the microwave-assisted synthesis of previously unreported 6-methoxy-5,6-dihydro-5-azapurines, which have a promising purinelike scaffold for drug discovery. The method is simple and fast, using easily accessible reagents such as trimethyl orthoformate, acetic acid, and aminotriazole-derived N,N'-disubstituted formamidines. Preliminary biological evaluation showed that the synthesized 6-methoxy-5,6-dihydro-5-azapurines dose-dependently reduce the viability of HepG2 and A549 cancer cells with little to no influence on five tested purinergic receptors.

Summary: Two compounds, [K(H2O)(CH3OH)Cr III(valen)(CN)2]2 ( 1 ) and PPh4[Cr III(valen)(CN)2]·8.5H2O ( 2 ), were synthesized and structurally characterized. Compound 1 exhibited solid-state transformation upon heating at 130 degrees C, resulting in the elimination of CH3OH and H2O ligands. Exposure of the resulting crystal to humidity led to the formation of compound 3. Compound 2 consists of discrete anionic mononuclear species [Cr III(valen)(CN)2] - and tetraphenylphosphonium counter cations. Thermal and electrochemical investigations were performed on the newly synthesized complexes.
