Summary: Despite advancements in cardiovascular care, CVD remains a leading cause of death globally. Preventing CVD requires managing risk factors and detecting it early, as well as maintaining physical activity throughout life.

Summary: Cancer cachexia is a common metabolic wasting syndrome in cancer patients, and there is currently no clear diagnostic criteria for it. Aerobic exercise has been shown to slow down its development and attenuate muscle loss. However, the optimal timing, duration, and intensity of exercise as a protective measure against cancer cachexia are still debated.

Summary: The study compared muscle strength in physically active Parkinson's disease patients and healthy individuals, finding that PD patients showed preserved lower limb strength due to increased muscle contractility, likely attributed to their moderate level of physical activity.

Summary: This study found that pregnant women who underwent assisted reproduction technologies (ART) had lower levels of physical activity during pregnancy compared to those who conceived naturally. In addition, all groups showed a decrease in physical activity during pregnancy compared to before pregnancy. Age was found to be a factor in the likelihood of fetal congenital heart defects (CHD) and decreased levels of physical activity before pregnancy. Overall, both healthy and high-risk pregnant women had decreased levels of physical activity, with only 26.49% of all pregnant women reaching the WHO recommendations. Further research is needed to promote and increase physical activity in ART and CHD pregnancies.

Summary: A study conducted in Umea found that higher concentrations of particles were associated with an increased risk of IHD, but individuals who exercised at least twice a week had a lower risk of IHD at high particle concentrations. For low particle concentrations, the protective effect of exercise on IHD risk was not significant. The increased risk associated with higher long-term particle exposure was mainly observed in individuals who exercised less.

Summary: Physical activity has potential beneficial effects on managing Marfan syndrome patients, but high-intensity activities may have detrimental effects. Most studies have been conducted on animals, with limited research on humans.

Summary: The study examined longitudinal changes in physical performance during the menopausal transition, finding declines in muscle strength and power but an increase in walking distance. High levels of physical activity were associated with greater increases in grip strength but greater declines in vertical jumping height among women in perimenopause.

Summary: The study found that frail older adults had less increase in heart rate and slower occurrence of heart rate peak during normal and rapid walking. Measures of heart rate dynamics showed stronger associations with frailty status and can serve as meaningful markers for frailty screening compared to baseline resting-state measures.

Summary: Autophagy is crucial for maintaining cellular homeostasis by degrading subcellular constituents. Atg5 and Atg7 are key regulators of the conventional autophagy pathway, but an alternative pathway, Ulk1- and Rab9-mediated alternative autophagy, has recently been identified. This alternative pathway, particularly in stress-induced mitochondrial autophagy (mitophagy), has been implicated in heart diseases. This review discusses the established and emerging mechanisms of alternative autophagy/mitophagy and their potential therapeutic implications for heart disorders.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the prevalence of physical activity, the perceived benefits of and barriers to physical activity among Jordanian patients with coronary heart disease. The results showed that patients perceived physiological benefits and various barriers to physical activity. Several sociodemographic and health characteristics significantly influenced the perceived barriers to physical activity. This study is important for the development of intervention strategies to maximize patients' participation in physical activity and overcome barriers.

Summary: Contemporary antiobesity medications are effective, but lifestyle factors should focus on enhancing holistic patient health and well-being rather than just weight loss. Physical activity is an important lifestyle behavior that has many health benefits, whether or not weight loss is achieved.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the LRRK2 G2019S mutation induces aggregation of NSF, leading to accumulation of protein inclusions in Parkinson's disease. It also shows that induction of autophagy can clear NSF aggregation and improve motor and cognitive impairment in aged G2019S mice.

Summary: This study found that maintaining or adopting an active lifestyle can reduce all-cause mortality risk in patients with CHD, especially for those who remained active. The results also suggest that the benefits of past activity in reducing CVD mortality risk may be lost if appropriate physical activity is not maintained.

Summary: This study investigated and analyzed the leisure-time and occupational physical activity of healthcare workers and assessed their relationship with cardiovascular health. The study found that there were significant differences in intensity and duration between leisure-time and occupational physical activity, and the two were negatively correlated. Occupational physical activity had an unfavorable effect on cardiovascular parameters, while leisure-time physical activity was beneficial. However, the quality of evidence in this study was low.
