A novel TWIP-type stainless steel bearing vanadium was designed based on stacking fault energy calculations. The strength properties of the steel we're investigated after recrystallization of cold deformed structures. It was observed that the annealing temperatures of 800 degrees C and 900 degrees C, optimal for strengthening by VC precipitates, were too low for complete recrystallization. However, at 1000 degrees C, an ultrafine grain structure was created with. the yield and tensile strengths and elongation to fracture of 700 MPa, 1100 MPa and 30% respectively.
