Summary: In this paper, the co-precipitation method was used to prepare NaMgF3 and MgF2 using the leaching solution of SPL and magnesium sulfate as raw materials. The molar ratio of magnesium ion to fluorion (M/F) was found to be the decisive factor for the type of product. NaMgF3 was mainly produced when M/F < 0.33, while MgF2 gradually formed when M/F increased to 0.33-0.81, and the product became a mixture of NaMgF3 and MgF2. When M/F exceeded 0.81, MgF2 was the main product.

Summary: This study fully characterized groundwater samples from Chihuahua City, northern Mexico, revealing natural contamination with arsenic, fluoride, and uranium. A batch equilibrium sorption procedure was implemented using chitosan hydrogels, showing high adsorption capacity for arsenic and fluoride ions. Kinetics sorption tests and adsorption isotherm studies indicated heterogeneous sorption and physisorption as the mechanism of retention for arsenic and fluoride ions.

Summary: This study evaluates the osteoregenerative capacity of bone grafting materials in animals with induced bone defects. Colloidal chitosan dispersion nanocomposites, nanohydroxyapatite-chitosan (NHAP-Q) and nanosilver-chitosan (AgNP-Q), showed good biocompatibility and bone regeneration capability. The main research outcome of this study is the combination of two types of NPs to enhance antimicrobial and osteoregeneration activities.

Summary: A novel and easily separable adsorbent in the shape of a membrane has been prepared to rapidly remove fluoride from water. The CS/PVA-La-Zr composite adsorbent can remove a large amount of fluoride within 1 min and reach adsorption equilibrium within 15 mins. The adsorption mechanism involves ion exchange with hydroxide and fluoride ions.

Summary: This article reviews the state of the art in using chitosan (CS) for preparing particulate carriers for drug delivery applications. It discusses the relationship between targeted controlled activity, preparation process, and release kinetics, focusing on matrix particles and capsules. The article emphasizes the relationship between the size/structure of CS-based particles and drug release kinetics, and reviews various techniques for characterizing particle properties. Mathematical models play a crucial role in understanding release mechanisms and identifying key structural characteristics, leading to the development of a novel design strategy for drug delivery devices.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption of cefotaxime (CTX) in water by chitosan particles and films, revealing that the film had a stronger adsorption capacity and was an efficient and reusable adsorbent for antibiotics elimination in water. Various experimental conditions and analysis factors influenced the CTX removal, with the mechanism of adsorption mainly based on plane strengthening effect, electrostatic attraction, nucleophilic addition reaction, and hydrogen bonding.

Summary: The use of heterogeneous catalysts in the transesterification process under pressurized conditions can minimize the operation temperature, making it more viable. This study aimed to determine the optimal synthesis condition of a catalyst based on KF and glass waste for transesterification in a continuous reactor under pressurized media. A central composite rotational design was used, and the catalyst's mass ratio and calcination temperature were varied. The results showed that the KF/WGP catalyst had the potential to produce esters in continuous flow under pressurized conditions, with a high ethyl ester content and low potassium leaching.
