Summary: After injuries to musculoskeletal tissues, an inflammatory response occurs to promote endogenous repair, but it often results in functionally inferior scar tissue. Injuries in adults no longer have the anabolic processes that contribute to growth and maturation, which can lead to degenerative conditions such as osteoarthritis. Researchers have been exploring cellular therapies, such as Platelet-rich Plasma and mesenchymal stem/medicinal signaling cells, to enhance tissue repair and regeneration. However, implanting these cells or engineered constructs into an inflammatory adult environment may compromise their potential for regeneration. Therefore, it may be necessary to neutralize the inflammatory environment and create an anabolic environment for optimal outcomes.

Summary: Marine collagen has shown great promise as a biomaterial in bone tissue engineering, displaying excellent biological effects such as promoting osteogenesis, inhibiting inflammation, inducing cartilage differentiation, and improving bone mineral density. Its biocompatibility, biodegradability, ease of extractability, safety, low immunogenicity, and low production costs have made it a popular choice for researchers.

Summary: This study assessed anthropogenic contamination levels and mineral composition of scleractinian corals from Southern Red Sea, Yemen. The mass fractions of 31 elements were determined, and pollution factors and loads were calculated. The results suggest that the investigated areas can be considered uncontaminated.

Summary: The rotator cuff is a highly integrated complex of bone-tendon-muscle units, and its injury has severe consequences for patients and healthcare systems. Current clinical treatments and recent advances have improved patient outcomes, but targeted regeneration of bone-tendon-muscle units is not emphasized. Engineering multi-tissue grafts may be a potential strategy for rotator cuff injuries.

Summary: Globally, there are successful municipal wastewater treatment technologies, but effluents from waste stabilization ponds often do not meet discharge limits. This study explores the potential of pumice rocks as treatment media for textile and municipal wastewater. The results show that pumice rocks effectively reduce BOD, COD, and color in wastewater.
