Summary: This study presents the surgical technique and long-term outcomes of living donor liver transplantations with renoportal anastomosis for patients with complete portal venous occlusion. The standardized RPA technique using an inferior VC cuff connected to the left renal vein creates a safe end-to-end RPA, with decreased complications and normal liver function in surviving patients.

Summary: Desensitization for incompatible living donor kidney transplantation increases the risk of infections, especially in highly desensitized recipients, leading to prolonged hospitalization and graft loss. Strategies are needed to protect patients from recurrent infections and extend the survival benefit of ILDKT.

Summary: Living donor liver transplantation is an effective solution to organ shortage, but ABO incompatibility or inadequate liver volume often prevents potential living donors from donating. Liver paired exchange (LPE) offers a practical solution to overcome these obstacles, and this study reports the world's first LPE case involving pediatric and adult recipients. This approach aims to avoid surgical complexity in the pediatric recipient and improve the graft-to-recipient weight ratio in the adult recipient of two ABO compatible pairs.

Summary: This study investigated the outcomes of Covid-19 infection in recipients of living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT) and found several factors associated with the severity of the disease. The results showed that despite immunosuppression, these recipients had similar disease courses to the general population, with most patients able to recover.

Summary: Living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) is more common in Asia than in North America, where living donor kidney transplantation, including paired exchanges for ABO-incompatible pairs, is prevalent. The first liver paired exchange (LPE) in the United States, completed over two consecutive days, was initiated by a non-directed donor and benefited an ABO-incompatible pair. This innovative approach demonstrates the feasibility of LPE in centers with experience in LDLT, offering new possibilities for transplantation in cases of ABO incompatibility.

No significant relationship was found with overall survival.

Summary: Living donor liver transplantation is an alternative method developed to address the limited access to deceased donor organs in Asia. It has become a widely practiced transplantation method for adult patients with end-stage liver disease and successfully solved the shortage of deceased donors. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the perioperative management of adult living liver transplantation recipients.

Summary: In this retrospective analysis, the impact of donor-specific antibodies (DSA) in HLA-incompatible living donor kidney transplant recipients was studied. The results showed that recipients with DSA had inferior graft survival compared to those without DSA, and this effect was independent of the flowcytometric crossmatch, MFI value, HLA class, and origin of DSA.

Summary: This study examined the outcomes of living-donor intestinal transplant (LDITx) recipients and found that LDITx is an effective treatment option for patients with end-stage intestinal failure. Improved immunosuppression, better HLA matching, and shorter cold ischemia times were associated with reduced rates of rejection, viral-mediated infection and improved graft survival.

Summary: Early recurrent bloodstream infection (ER-BSI) after living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT) significantly affects the one-year survival rate of patients, with ER-BSI being the most important risk factor for mortality. Intra-abdominal and/or biliary complications and early allograft dysfunction are risk factors for both early single BSI and ER-BSI.

Summary: In this study, the relationship between the expression of the mitophagy-regulating protein STX17 in living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) and graft survival was investigated. The results showed that low STX17 expression was associated with graft dysfunction, suggesting that STX17 may be a predictor of graft dysfunction in LDLT patients.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of fibrinolysis combined with Venous Systemic Oxygen Persufflation (VSOP) on the preservation of livers retrieved from donors after circulatory death (DCD). The results showed that the combination treatment improved microvascular flow, microperfusion velocity, and portal venous flow. It also reduced enzyme release and lactate dehydrogenase levels, indicating improved organ integrity and viability. The findings suggest that SK + VSOP combination treatment may be a potential therapeutic approach for DCD in the clinical setting.

Summary: This study aimed to identify factors associated with choking among acute hospital patients and suggest prevention policies. The study found that mental illness and hospitalization in general wards were associated with an increased likelihood of choking. The main causes of choking were food and medical devices/supplies. Inadequate checking and misperception of risk were common contributing factors. Choking poses a significant burden on patients, and hospital administrators should take measures to minimize the risk of choking.

Summary: This prospective study investigated the changes in gut microbiota and associated intestinal environment during the early period after liver transplantation. The recipients showed dysbiosis and depletion of organic acid before transplantation, which were related to the severity of liver disease. The transplantation procedure caused minimal changes in gut microbiota and organic acid concentrations in the donors, while the recipients exhibited delayed recovery in these factors.

Summary: Recently, it has been discovered that individuals with autistic traits, especially females, employ compensatory strategies for better adaptation. The adaptive status of these individuals, as well as the factors contributing to it, remain largely unexplored, particularly the influence of gender. This study explored the personal strengths of non-clinical adults with high autistic traits using online surveys. The results showed that personal strengths estimated by others were higher than those by self, especially in females, suggesting that non-clinical autistic females have unique adaptation styles.
