Summary: This study analyzed the integrity of the dissimilation pathway in Pichia pastoris using transcriptomics and metabolomics for the first time. Blocking the dissimilation pathway significantly decreased the level of oxidative phosphorylation and weakened the methanol assimilation pathway, resulting in insufficient energy supply and carbon fixation, leading to inefficient biomass accumulation and genetic replication. Additionally, the transcriptional upregulation of proteasomes and autophagy may be a stress response to resolve formaldehyde-induced DNA-protein crosslinking.

Summary: This study analyzed the mechanism of mancozeb-induced kidney injury by detecting kidney function indicators, combined with transcriptome and metabolome sequencing. The results showed that mancozeb impaired the kidney structure, increased creatinine and uric acid levels, and accumulated reactive oxygen species in the kidneys. The differentially expressed genes were enriched in the oxidative phosphorylation pathway. The metabolomic analysis identified the cGMP-PKG signaling pathway as the main altered pathway in mancozeb-induced nephrotoxicity.

Summary: Stocking density is an important factor affecting productivity in aquaculture, and high stocking density can cause stress for aquatic animals. This study examined the effects of stocking densities on oxidative stress and energy metabolism in the gills of Cherax quadricarinatus under rice-crayfish farming. The results showed that high stocking density led to higher levels of oxidative stress markers and dysregulation of energy metabolism. Transcriptomic and pathway analyses further supported these findings.

Summary: In most Streptomyces species, antibiotic production is triggered by a low ATP content, which is correlated with phosphate limitation. This study investigated the hypothesis that a low ATP content directly triggers antibiotic biosynthesis. The functional ATPase, but not the non-functional mutated version, was over-expressed in Streptomyces lividans, resulting in the production of bioactive metabolites. These findings confirm the link between phosphate limitation, ATP deficit, and antibiotic biosynthesis.

Summary: This study investigated the physiological and biochemical responses of contrasting thermo-tolerant wheat varieties under heat stress conditions. Results showed that the heat-tolerant variety BG26 maintained higher cellular homeostasis and antioxidant activities compared to the heat susceptible variety Pavon. Hierarchical clustering and principal component analysis revealed that BG26 possesses a combination of biochemical responses tailoring antioxidant activities for higher tolerance.

Summary: This study reports a newly designed biopolymer material, BO-Ph, which exhibits low cytotoxicity and non-significant acute nephrotoxicity. The material is capable of inducing metabolic reprogramming in kidney organoids. Integrated transcriptome and metabolome analyses show that the metabolism of BO-Ph stimulates glutathione synthesis, fatty acid degradation, and oxidative phosphorylation under redox homeostasis. The benefits of BO-Ph-induced metabolic reprogramming include enhancing cellular antioxidant capacity and promoting mitochondrial function.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanisms of salt adaptation in salt-tolerant rice HD961 at the early seedling stage using transcriptome and metabolome analysis. The results showed that HD961 exhibited stronger growth and antioxidant capacity under salt stress compared to 9311. The analysis revealed that glutathione metabolism played a critical role in HD961's response to salt stress. Intensive regulation of related genes and metabolites may contribute to the salt resistance in HD961.

Summary: Obesity is a serious public health challenge that is closely linked to oxidative stress and metabolic disorders. This study analyzed serum samples from children with obesity and found abnormal levels of oxidative stress markers, which were positively correlated with obesity-related indices. Age was also found to be associated with oxidative stress.
