Summary: In this study, a W-Mo/Mo-V/V-W co-doped TiO2 photocatalyst was successfully prepared via one-step Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) process for effective degradation of MB dye under sunlight irradiation. The co-doped photocatalysts exhibited enhanced light absorption, charge separation, and photocurrent generation, with sample MV showing the highest photocatalytic efficiency. This immobilized co-doped photocatalyst developed by the PEO process holds promise for textile wastewater treatment applications.

Summary: This study investigates the combined use of cold argon plasma (CAP) and metal oxide nanoparticles for antibacterial treatment. The results demonstrate that the combination of CAP and redox-active metal oxide or metal fluoride nanoparticles effectively inhibits bacterial growth, damages DNA, and disrupts the cell wall. The combination of CAP and CeF3 nanoparticles shows the strongest antimicrobial effect on plasmid DNA, while the CAP and WO3 combination is most effective against bacterial genomic DNA. CeF3 nanoparticles exhibit strong antimicrobial and DNA-damaging properties for the first time.

Summary: The catalytic combustion of trichloroethylene (TCE) was studied using cerium-based catalysts, which exhibited surprising catalytic activity. MnOx was doped into CeO2 using a citric acid sol-gel method, and the effect of Mn content on the physicochemical properties and catalytic activities of MnOx-CeO2 mixed oxides was systematically investigated. The introduction of MnOx into CeO2 significantly improved the catalytic activity and reaction stability of the CeO2 catalyst, and the catalytic activity could be maintained for over 100 hours under an air atmosphere. Moreover, a possible reaction mechanism and catalytic cycle for the catalytic combustion of TCE over MnOx-CeO2 mixed oxide catalysts are proposed.

Summary: Photocatalytic CO2 reduction using a CeO2/WO3 Z-scheme heterojunction was investigated in this study. The Z-scheme provided an interfacial free charge carrier and oxygen vacancies as active sites, leading to a significant increase in the CO2 photoconversion activity compared to pristine CeO2. The enhanced light absorption, low defective surface, and slow charge recombination rate in the composite contributed to the improved CO2 reduction efficiency.

Summary: In this study, composite photoanodes were prepared using electrospray for efficient photoelectrodisinfection. Ce-TiO2/GO exhibited the highest antimicrobial activity and current density, attributed to better charge carrier separation and overproduction of ROS. The photoanodes showed stable photocurrent response, good photostability, and cleanliness from biofilms and bacteria.

Summary: The Re/Pd-TiO2/SiO2 aerogel catalysts synthesized using sol-gel method and super-critical drying showed higher catalytic activity in hydrodesulphurisation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) and 4,6-dimethyl dibenzothiophene (4,6-DMDBT) compared to Co/Mo-Al2O3/SiO2 aerogel catalysts. This can be attributed to well dispersed active phases, incorporation of Ti within silica matrix, increased mesopore volumes and high specific surface areas in Re/Pd-TiO2/SiO2 aerogels.

Summary: Surfactant-modified CeO2@TiO2 core-shell nanostructure catalysts were prepared and their catalytic oxidation of dichloromethane (DCM) was studied. A 90% conversion efficiency of DCM was achieved at 300°C with the CeO2@TiO2SDS catalyst, showing better catalytic stability compared to Ce/TiO2 and CeO2@TiO2. The introduction of SDS inhibited crystal growth, promoting the dispersion of active components and improving surface acidity and redox capacity, thus enhancing catalytic activity and stability. This research provides a novel method for designing catalytic oxidation catalysts for the treatment of chlorinated volatile organic compounds.

Summary: Controlling the interaction between active metals and supports is crucial for the catalytic decomposition of ammonia. This study investigated the generation of oxygen vacancies in SiCeOx support through Si addition and their interaction with Ru, leading to improved catalytic performance. The Si content in Ru/SiCeOx catalysts was controlled by adjusting aging temperatures and times during the precipitation process. The formation of oxygen vacancies by Si insertion into the CeO2 lattice was characterized by various techniques, and the correlation between NH3 conversion, oxygen vacancy content, and nitrogen desorption temperature was experimentally proven.
