Summary: In addition to demographic characteristics, occupational stress and musculoskeletal disorders are factors affecting the mental health of coal miners. It was found that BDNF rs10835210, TPH2 rs4570625 and TPH2 rs4131347 interact with each other, increasing the risk of mental disorders among coal miners.

Summary: The study aims to develop a job rotation strategy that matches with the company needs, evaluate its implementation process, and determine the extent to which it improves the work environment, health indicators, gender and social equality among workers, and production quality and resilience. This study provides novel information on the effects of job rotation on various aspects in a highly multicultural workplace.

Summary: An intervention was conducted at the occupational healthcare services of the City of Helsinki in 2016 to investigate the association between the intervention and employee sick leaves. The study found that there was no immediate change in sick leave days prescribed at OHS, but a gradual decrease in the number of such sick leave days, leading to an estimated saving of 2.5 sick leave days per year per employee. Additionally, there was an immediate increase in sick leave days for other reasons after the intervention, followed by a gradual decrease in the number of sick leave days.

Summary: The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among underground coal miners was investigated, and a risk prediction model was developed and validated. The highest prevalence of MSDs was in the lower back, while the lowest was in the hips and buttocks. Age, length of service, annual income, and occupational stress, burnout, and depression were identified as independent predictors of MSDs. The constructed nomogram model showed good discriminatory ability and accuracy.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMDs) and found that it was higher in women than in men. The likelihood of WRMDs was associated with employment status, showing a lower probability for non-standard employment among men. Among women, exposure to occupational noise and unfavorable self-reported health increased the likelihood of WRMDs. The study also identified higher risks of WRMDs for both sexes associated with rheumatoid arthritis, depression, and occupational accidents.

Summary: This review characterizes the current landscape of exoskeletons in promoting medical care and occupational safety. The integration of exoskeletons based on different work activities is comprehensively analyzed. Collaboration between researchers, designers, healthcare professionals, and industries is crucial for the future development of exoskeletons in improving working conditions and safety.

Summary: The review found a possible association between occupational driving posture and low back pain, but the specific postures and strength of this relationship have not been confirmed. Future research needs to use reliable methods to measure occupational driving posture for a better understanding.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between oral health problems such as difficulty chewing and the occurrence of stiff neck/shoulders (SN/S) and low back pain (LBP), suggesting that the presence of difficulty in chewing could predict the occurrence of musculoskeletal symptoms in workers.

Summary: This study evaluated the benefits of ergonomics educational training for novice and experienced workers in preventing work-related musculoskeletal disorders in a poultry processing industry. The training reduced musculoskeletal complaints in the neck, back, and wrists, with a decrease in pain intensity in the wrist region. Both novice and experienced workers showed a reduction in occupational biomechanical exposure, with novice workers experiencing a higher reduction in the cutting room. Overall, all workers benefited from the training in the short and medium term, emphasizing the importance of training content and approach in achieving success.

Summary: This study investigated the risk of hospital contact due to musculoskeletal disorders and pain disorders among Danish occupational fishers, and found that the risk of musculoskeletal disorders varied across working life among fishers. Fishers with less than 5 years or more than 20 years of work experience had a higher risk of musculoskeletal disorders.

Summary: This study investigated the loads carried by sand miners in Nepal and found that female miners carried an average of 66 kg, while male miners carried an average of 87 kg. 45% of participants reported moderate to severe musculoskeletal pain, and 38% had musculoskeletal disorders identified using specified case criteria. Miners carrying heavier loads had lower prevalence of MSDs compared to those carrying lighter loads, indicating a healthy worker survival effect.

Summary: This study assessed the musculoskeletal risk factors of the upper limb during domestic floor mopping tasks and compared different mopping systems. The results showed that wet wipes had the highest repetition count and exertion rates, while the plunge mop had higher scrubbing forces, and the cotton fibre mop was perceived as the cleanest. These findings provide valuable reference for occupational therapists to provide ergonomic advice to patients with upper limb musculoskeletal conditions.

Summary: This study investigated factors associated with musculoskeletal pain among 225 female mineworkers in a South African goldmine over a 12-month period. Findings revealed that education level and health status were protective factors against pain. It is suggested that further cohort studies across multiple mines are needed to inform workplace interventions for female mineworkers.
