Summary: This study introduces a novel in vitro regeneration method for Rhododendron decorum using flower buds as explants. The optimal medium combinations and plant growth regulators for callus induction, adventitious shoot differentiation, proliferation, and rooting were determined. The developed regeneration system is simple, efficient, and minimally damages the mother plants, providing a foundation for plantlet propagation, genetic transformation, and new-variety breeding of R. decorum.

Summary: Three new diterpenoids, including one trachylobane and two labdanes, were isolated from Scopulophila lantsangia. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic data analysis. The absolute configuration of compound 1 was established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The cytotoxicity evaluation against four human cancer cell lines showed that compound 1 exhibited weak activity.

Summary: Twenty-five grayanane diterpenoids, including six undescribed compounds (craibiodenoside A-F), were isolated from Craibiodendron yunnanense W. W. Smith leaves. The structures of the compounds were determined using 1D-NMR, 2D-NMR, and HR-ESI-MS analyses. The compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activities, and three undescribed compounds (craibiodenoside A, B, F) and three known compounds showed significant inhibition of interleukin-6 (IL-6) release. Additionally, the antinociceptive activities of the compounds were assessed, and Craibiodenoside D, grayanoside D, and rhodojaponins VI exhibited notable antinociceptive activities, with rhodojaponins VI having an inhibition percentage of 87.6%.

Summary: Two new modified ent-abietane diterpenoids, zanzibariolides A and B, and two known triterpenoids, simiarenol and fi-amyrin, were isolated from the leaf extract of Suregada zanzibariensis. The structures of these compounds were determined using NMR, MS, and X-ray crystallography. The crude extract showed inhibitory activity against HSV-2 and exhibited toxicity on GMK AH1 cells. However, the isolated compounds showed no anti-HSV-2 activity and showed insignificant toxicity against GMK AH1 cells.

Despite screening for cytotoxic, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities, 1-3 did not show significant biological activity.
