Summary: Keloids are skin conditions induced by injuries, and a study has suggested a promising treatment method using microneedles to deliver 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) loaded carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC) nanoparticles directly into keloid fibroblasts. This delivery system not only inhibits the fibroblasts effectively but also has the feasibility of self-administration without pain, showing potential for treating keloid scars.

Summary: This study developed a method to improve the microbial resistance and storability of harvested fruits by loading magnolol onto water-soluble carrier CMCS. The resulting Magnolol@CMCS particles effectively solved the insolubility and agglomeration issues of magnolol and showed greater toxicity against bacteria. The use of this solution also delayed changes in fruit quality during storage and improved the storability of kiwifruit.

Summary: This study investigated the rheological/interfacial behavior and stability properties of oil-in-water nanoemulsions prepared using whey protein-carboxymethyl chitosan conjugates. The results showed that the conjugation improved the hydrophobicity of whey protein and enhanced its emulsifying activity and stability, resulting in smaller droplet nanoemulsions. This work provides insight into the role of whey protein-carboxymethyl chitosan conjugates in stabilizing droplets at the oil-water interface.

Summary: This study developed amino-functionalized silica nanoparticles (AMSN) and O-Carboxymethyl chitosan-coated AMSN (AMSN-CMC) for ocular delivery of 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU). The optimal formulation of AMSN-CMC-FU showed improved corneal permeation and higher bioavailability compared to 5-FU gel. AMSN-CMC-FU gel was minimally irritating to rabbit eyes, suggesting its potential as a topical formulation for ocular cancer treatment.

Summary: This study investigates CNCs and CS derivative-based nanosystems for potential cancer treatment, demonstrating the stability and non-toxicity of fluorescent CNCs/FA-CS-FITC nanosystems in different conditions and their concentration-dependent cellular uptake in breast cancer cells. The functionalized CNCs show a high affinity towards FR-positive cancer cells and have a potential anti-proliferative effect, suggesting their potential applicability as nanocarriers for targeted therapy with imaging properties.

Summary: The study demonstrates the potential of PLGA nanoparticles and chitosan NiMPs to utilize all three prominent intranasal delivery pathways to the brain and the CNS: transcellular, intracellular via neuronal cells, and paracellular transport. The findings suggest that these nanoparticles and microparticles hold promise for the treatment of neurological diseases.

Summary: This study prepared pH-responsive electrospun carboxymethyl chitosan nanofibers and cross-linked them with glutaraldehyde vapor to achieve sustained release of 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU). The release of 5-FU from different nanofiber configurations was investigated under acidic and physiological conditions. The results showed that the trilayered nanofibers achieved sustained release of 5-FU, while the single layer nanofibers initially released the drug rapidly. The study also demonstrated that the trilayered nanofibers had better control over the release of 5-FU compared to the single layer nanofibers.

Summary: The present study aimed to determine the effects of carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC) on titanium particles-induced oxidative stress in mouse RAW264.7 macrophages. CMC effectively suppressed titanium particles-induced oxidative stress in RAW264.7 cells, as evidenced by the decrease in intracellular ROS level, the transcription of oxidases, and TNF-alpha concentration as well as the increase in the transcription of antioxidant enzymes.
