The prospects for using BeO ceramic in electronics and other fields of engineering and in the building of special instruments are discussed. One of the main parameters in using BeO ceramic in electronics is the high thermal conductivity of this material. In the temperature range 300 - 630 K BeO ceramic possesses the highest thermal conductivity of all ceramic materials used in electronics. The thermal conductivity of 170 samples of BeO-ceramic having the same configuration and dimensions and obtained from the same batch of initial BeO powder was investigated. It was found that the average size of the microcrystals and the density of the samples obtained determine the thermal conductivity.
