Summary: Targeted and untargeted analysis are important methods in omics sciences. GC-MS is commonly used for volatile and thermally stable compounds, while LC-MS is used for compounds that cannot be analyzed by GC without chemical derivatization. Researchers are working on bridging the gap between LC and GC-MS techniques.

Summary: The amino alkylation of kraft lignins using the Mannich reaction is a versatile technique that can be used for analytical derivatization, improving hydrophilicity, or enhancing metal ion adsorptive capacity. This study utilized a quantitative technique combining 2D HSQC NMR and C-13 NMR spectroscopy to directly examine the structure of aminated lignins. The results indicated that low molecular weight lignins had a higher degree of amine substitution compared to high molecular weight fractions, with no significant impact observed from pH levels or different amine species.

Summary: Limonin-loaded eugenol emulsion (EuLm) demonstrates disruptive activity against Penicillium italicum, affecting the fungal membrane structure and intracellular substance metabolism. The study reveals that EuLm treatment disrupts fungal cell membrane, mitochondrial membrane potential, ergosterol synthesis, and decreases total lipids, cell proteins, total sugars. Metabolomics analysis indicates that EuLm interferes with fungal metabolic pathways and leads to a decline in various metabolites.

Summary: An analytical model is developed to study the composition-dependent structure of amorphous aluminosilicate materials. The model provides insights into the decrease in aluminum atoms and the increase in aluminum-oxygen bonds with increasing cation field strength. It accurately predicts the fraction of non-bridging oxygen atoms in different compositions. However, for certain compositions, there may be an excess of non-bridging oxygen atoms.

Summary: We performed an effective field theory analysis to establish a connection between the charged lepton flavor violating processes e, -> ej gamma gamma and e, -> ej gamma. By using the current upper bounds on the rate for e, -> ej gamma, we obtained model-independent upper limits on the rates for e, -> ej gamma gamma. Our indirect limits are three orders of magnitude stronger than the direct bounds from current searches for mu -> e gamma gamma, and four orders of magnitude better than the current bounds for tau -> e gamma gamma. We also emphasized the significance of Belle II or a Super Tau Charm Facility in discovering the rare decay tau -> e gamma gamma.

Summary: This study established the reproductive cycle and strategy of Anisotremus scapularis females in Peru through seasonal sampling and biometric indices calculation. The reproductive strategy of A. scapularis was classified as asynchronous spawning with indeterminate fecundity, and the average size at first maturity was 25.3 cm. Plasma hormone concentration and seasonal factors significantly influenced the reproductive process of A. scapularis. The findings of this study provide essential knowledge for the aquaculture of this species.

Summary: Visible-light-mediated chemical processes have been extensively studied, leading to cutting-edge synthetic chemistry by controlling radical generation and excited-state transformations. While photoredox chemistry is important, it often involves photocatalysts and redox processes, complicating reactions. A breakthrough in this field is the development of a system free of photocatalysts, providing more straightforward and energetically efficient methods.

Summary: A novel GC/MS-SIM method was developed for comprehensive analysis of sterols, using a new referencing system and retention time locking. This method involved measuring multiple SIM ions, including molecular ions of sterols and abundant ions of FAPs. The screening of common vegetable oils enabled the detection and identification of numerous sterols and triterpenes.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the loading of sildenafil citrate in three commercial transdermal vehicles using 3D full-thickness skin equivalent and compare the results with permeability experiments using porcine skin. The results showed that the results obtained using the 3D skin equivalent were comparable to those obtained using porcine skin, suggesting that the 3D skin model can be a valid alternative for ex-vivo skin absorption experiments.
