Summary: This study aimed to investigate the roles of LncFALEC and miR-20a-5p/SHOC2 axis in the proliferation, migration, and 5-FU resistance of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). The expression of FALEC and miR-20a-5p was examined in CCA tissues and cell lines, and it was found that FALEC was significantly upregulated in CCA tissues, especially in samples from 5-FU-resistant patients. Knockdown of FALEC increased the sensitivity of CCA cells to 5-FU and reduced cell migration and invasion. Dual luciferase reporter assays confirmed that FALEC acted as a sponge for miR-20a-5p and downregulated its expression. Furthermore, SHOC2 was identified as a target gene of miR-20a-5p. Overexpression of FALEC significantly increased 5-FU resistance in CCA cells, potentially through increasing SHOC2 expression and activating the ERK1/2 signaling pathway.

Summary: The epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a cellular process associated with aggressive features in various cancer types. It involves the loss of epithelial cell characteristics and acquisition of a mesenchymal phenotype, accompanied by changes in cell markers. EMT is regulated by multiple signaling pathways and has been observed in non-epithelial cancers such as osteosarcoma (OS). Recent studies have identified regulatory roles for proteins, non-coding nucleic acids, and the tumor micro-environment in EMT of OS. This review summarizes these findings to identify key regulatory molecules and potential therapeutic targets in OS.

Summary: This study assessed the whole transcriptome expression profiles of pigs' Longissimus dorsi muscle with high and low IMF content to identify genes involved in porcine IMF adipogenesis. The findings revealed the involvement of non-coding RNAs in fatty acid metabolic processes, lipid metabolism, and fat cell differentiation. The study also constructed competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNA) regulatory networks, highlighting the roles of lncRNAs, circRNAs, and miRNAs in IMF deposition. These findings provide potential regulators and molecular regulatory networks for future research on IMF traits in pigs, which can aid in improving pork quality through marker-assisted selection.

Summary: Osteosarcoma is a common and deadly type of bone tumor. Multiple-drug resistance remains a significant obstacle to effective chemotherapy. Noncoding RNAs, such as lncRNAs and circRNAs, play important roles in tumor resistance to chemotherapy, but the molecular mechanisms of the lncRNA/circRNA-miRNA-mRNA competitive endogenous RNA network in drug resistance of osteosarcoma are still unclear. Understanding these mechanisms and identifying effective intervention targets are of great significance for improving the overall recovery of patients with osteosarcoma.

Summary: This study aimed to build a ceRNA network related to AML TME using RNA expression data from the TCGA database. The research identified a hub prognostic ceRNA network composed of specific mRNAs, miRNAs, and lncRNAs using various algorithms and survival analyses. The findings suggested a correlation between immune cell infiltration in TME and AML prognosis, highlighting potential therapeutic targets.

Summary: This study investigates the role of benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P) in breast cancer development through RNA-seq and bioinformatics analysis. Differentially-expressed circRNAs, lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNAs were identified and analyzed for gene ontology and KEGG enrichment functions. CeRNA networks were constructed and validated through real-time PCR and Western blotting assays. This study provides new insights into the mechanisms of environmental pollutants in breast cancer.

Summary: This study investigated the roles of microRNAs and circular RNAs in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) by constructing a circRNA-miRNA-mRNA co-expression network and performing differential expression analysis. The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection was found to be an important risk factor for NPC, with potential pathological differences between EBV+ and EBV- subtypes. The study identified differentially expressed coding and non-coding RNAs across different comparison groups, helping to elucidate genetic and epigenetic changes central to NPC progression.

Summary: Through RNA sequencing, this study identified dysregulated lncRNAs and mRNAs in cervical cancer tissues of Uyghur women in western China, revealing their involvement in viral carcinogenesis, cell cycle, and cytokine-cytokine receptor signaling. Specifically, two miRNA-host lncRNAs were found to be upregulated in cervical cancer samples but associated with prolonged survival time of patients. Additionally, a network of 545 lncRNAs potentially regulating miRNAs as ceRNAs in cervical cancer was identified.
