Cypermethrin is a highly active type II pyrethroid that is widely used to control harmful insects. The present study was conducted to investigate the possible effects of the sublethal concentration of cypermethrin (0.05L/L) on the biometric, hematological, and biochemical parameters of Van fish (Alburnus tarichi Guldenstadt 1814) for 24, 48, 72, and 96h. Behavioral and physiological changes were observed in the fish treated with cypermethrin. Hematological parameters revealed a significant decrease in the erythrocyte (RBC), hemoglobin (Hb), and hematocrit (Hct) values (p .05). Serum enzymes, aspartate aminotransferase (AST, EC 2.6.1.1), alanine aminotransferase (ALT, EC 2.6.1.2), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH, EC 1.1.1.27) activities and serum cortisol level were significantly increased (p .05). The results showed that changes in the biometric, biochemical, and hematological values of the Van fish exposed to cypermethrin can be used as biomarkers for monitoring toxicity.

Investigation of some hormones affecting osmoregulation of Lake Van fish (Alburnus tarichi) during reproductive migration

Ayse Yesilbas, Ahmet Regaib Oguz

Summary: Lake Van fish is the only vertebrate species adapted to the extreme characteristics of Lake Van, migrating to freshwater for breeding annually before returning to the lake. Water ion levels decreased in freshwater areas during reproductive migration, while hormone levels varied in different regions, indicating direct and indirect effects on osmoregulation in the fish species.

Ulexite modulates the neurotoxicological outcomes of acetylferrocene-exposed rainbow trout

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the neuroprotective effect of ulexite against acetylferrocene-induced neurotoxicity in brain tissues of Oncorhynchus mykiss. The results showed that acetylferrocene caused neurotoxicity and altered the antioxidant system, inflammatory response, and DNA damage in brain tissues. However, ulexite mitigated these adverse effects and exerted neuroprotective effects by activating the Nrf2 signaling pathway.

Summary: This study investigated the neurotoxic damage potential of ferrocene (FcH) in aquaculture and its related mechanism, while evaluating the protective potential of borax (BX). The results showed that FcH caused oxidative damage and borax was able to mitigate its neurotoxicity.

Borax relieved the acrylamide-induced hematotoxic, hepatotoxic, immunotoxic and genotoxic damages in rainbow trout by regulating apoptosis and Nrf2 signaling pathway

Summary: The compound acrylamide (AA) is widely used in industries such as paper, dyes, and plastics, but its water solubility suggests it could pose environmental problems. AA has been found to be neurotoxic, immunotoxic, reproductive toxic, and carcinogenic in animals. This study investigated the potential of boron compounds, such as borax (BX), to ameliorate AA-induced toxicities in rainbow trout. The results showed that AA exposure led to oxidative stress and DNA damage in both blood and liver tissues of the fish. However, co-exposure of BX with AA also elicited oxidative stress and cell death. Overall, BX was suggested as a useful and effective natural agent for preventing and treating AA toxicity in fish.

Magnetic nanoparticles-induced neurotoxicity and oxidative stress in brain of rainbow trout: Mitigation by ulexite through modulation of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic activities

Arzu Ucar, Veysel Parlak, Fatma Betul Ozgeris, Asli Cilingir Yeltekin, Mehmet Enes Arslan, Gonca Alak, Hasan Turkez, Esat Mahmut Kocaman, Muhammed Atamanalp

Summary: This study investigated the effects of exposure to magnetic nanoparticles on Oncorhynchus mykiss and found that ulexite can mitigate neurotoxicity and inflammation. The impact on the antioxidant system and DNA damage was also analyzed. The results showed that magnetic nanoparticles induced stress in O. mykiss, while ulexite exhibited a positive regulatory effect on this stress response.

Gonca Alak, Asli Cilingir Yeltekin, Mine Kokturk, Mehmet Salih Nas, Veysel Parlak, Mehmet Harbi Calimli, Arzu Ucar, Muhammed Atamanalp

Summary: This study explores the interactions between PdCu@f-MWCNT nanoparticles and zebrafish, and assesses their ecotoxicological risk. The chemical and morphological structures of the nanomaterials are analyzed, and their effects on zebrafish are investigated through biochemical analyses and examination of malformation defects. The results show that the nanoparticles have dose-dependent adverse effects on embryonic development, survival rate, and incidence of malformation in zebrafish.

Summary: This study investigated the developmental toxicity of zebrafish treated with different concentrations of PdCu@GO. It was found that PdCu@GO administration decreased hatchability and survival rate, and caused dose-dependent cardiac malformation. Summary: The study examined the histological and immunohistochemical changes in the gills of sailfin velifera acclimated to different salinity levels. Results showed that histological alterations in the gill tissue increased with higher salinity, mainly due to cell hyperplasia and an increase in specific cell types. Different types of cells, such as mucus cells and heat shock protein cells, were observed in the gill tissue under different salinity levels, indicating their important role in regulating ion and salt balance.
