Summary: This study presents a monitoring system for peri-urban forests, focusing on the sacred fir forests surrounding Mexico City. Using a participatory approach, local community members and scientists collected data on ozone tree damage using a digital tool. The results showed that 35% of the trees had ozone damage. Younger trees had less foliage damage than older trees, and asymptomatic trees tended to be younger. Symptomatic trees were taller than asymptomatic trees of the same age. This participatory system can help monitor forest condition change over time and support restoration efforts driven by government or local communities' interests.

Summary: The benefits of urban data cannot be realized without a political and strategic view of data use. A core concept within this view is data governance, which aligns strategy in data-relevant structures and entities with data processes, actors, architectures, and overall data management. This research provides a foundation for developing a reference model for urban data governance, identifies challenges in dealing with data in cities, and defines factors for the successful implementation of urban data governance.

Summary: Cities in East Asia have experienced rapid economic growth and urban development through strong state intervention. However, recent economic slowdowns and political changes have forced cities to seek alternatives to state-led or market-driven development, utilizing intermediary organizations to mobilize citizen participation in governance. Despite the expansion of citizen participation through intermediaries in urban development, there are contradictions in their role, as they can both enhance and constrain community engagement while allowing the state to maintain control over regeneration efforts in the city.

Summary: Private sector actors, including small and medium-sized enterprises, play crucial roles in urban sustainability governance, but there is a lack of knowledge about their specific contributions. Existing governance strategies face limitations in engaging SMEs in sustainability initiatives, highlighting the need to address the 'governance divide' to unlock greater opportunities for transformative change.

Summary: Under the modernization requirement of the national governance system and governance capacity, exploring extensive and universal means of public participation in urban governance is an important measure for the government to respond to public demands. The use of images as media in the Internet era has simplified and facilitated public participation across time and space, surpassing the limitations of previous participation channels in urban planning. We Media, particularly participatory videos, has significantly impacted public participation in urban planning through the widespread influence of the Internet. This study proposes that the coordination between cognitive level and practical level is crucial in evaluating the level of public participation in participatory video intervention in urban planning. By using AHP and Delphi to build an index system, a comprehensive evaluation approach is adopted, and a coupled coordination model is introduced to construct the public participation evaluation system based on the participatory video of 'general will-particular will'. Through the evaluation of numerous image samples and survey materials, the index system shows good validity. Finally, the implementation of participatory video intervention in public participation is summarized from the perspective of different stakeholders. This paper holds significant theoretical value and guiding significance in terms of clarifying the impact of participatory video intervention on public participation in urban and rural planning, and promoting effective improvement in public participation in urban planning.

Summary: This study traces the evolution of urban regeneration policymaking in Guangzhou, China, using a network-based framework. It finds that urban redevelopment policymaking in China has shifted from state-dominant to local government-driven practices, with increased involvement of non-state actors and a transition towards a polyarchy-oriented decision-making mechanism. The emergence of insurgent practices in the Enninglu redevelopment project indicates a move towards substantive participatory governance in the Chinese context.

Summary: This article aims to identify validated and reliable indicators and tools for assessing good governance in urban settings, specifically for population health, well-being, and equity. It also evaluates the processes of multisectoral action and civic engagement reported in peer-reviewed articles. The study findings show that there is limited data on participatory health governance strategies, with most of the available information coming from high-income countries. It highlights the need for updated and reliable data to monitor these processes and develop indicators to assess their impact on population health, well-being, and equity.

Summary: The regeneration of old residential communities in China is a crucial task in urban renewal. Collaborative governance theory has emerged as an effective approach, but there is limited research on its application in small-scale regeneration projects. This paper summarizes three nuanced pathways in collaborative governance through case studies, showcasing their effectiveness in resolving community conflicts and producing sustainable results. By comparing different stakeholder participation processes, this study highlights how the three models achieve their objectives in participatory regeneration projects. These models contribute to international experience and offer a valuable example for developing countries.

Summary: This paper focuses on the changes in the cultural landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Vlkolinec in Slovakia and explores the possibilities for its preservation and sustainable development, taking into account residents' demands for their standard of living. Utilizing historical maps and aerial photographs, the study analyzes the development of landscape changes in the protection zone, interpreting various landscape elements and land use patterns to understand the natural and socio-economic conditions influencing the area. By conducting a questionnaire survey in 2017 with residents and users of the area, the study aims to identify problems and propose solutions to maintain the uniqueness of the site while attracting tourism, ultimately preparing plans for its preservation and sustainable development.

Summary: Forests cover 30% of the world's land area, providing essential ecosystem services, but are still being degraded. Despite various international forest governance arrangements, studies show there is no global forest policy regime and increasing institutional fragmentation. National sovereignty remains a priority in international forest policy, with domestic policies and actors considered central to international forest governance analysis.

Summary: Preferential land tax programs have been used for over 50 years and are primarily linked to nature protection and environmental goals, as well as promoting and supporting forest ecosystem services. Although forest land tax reductions are considered as an economic incentive for ecosystem services support, the visibility of it as payment for ecosystem service is low.

The study identifies pro-regulation and contra-regulation coalitions and highlights the strategic alliance formed between pro-EUDR business actors and other pro-coalitions. Despite opposition from a weaker contra-regulation coalition, the EUDR was ultimately institutionalized as a compromise solution accommodating different beliefs and interests of state and non-state actors.
