Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of watermelon leaf extract on type 2 diabetes mellitus induced by high-fat diet combined with low-dose streptozotocin. The results showed that watermelon leaf extract attenuated the biochemical parameters and structural changes related to diabetes. The study suggests that watermelon leaf extract could be a promising candidate for the management of diabetes and its complications.

Summary: In this study, the major wound healing compound from S. jollyanum extract was isolated and its in vivo wound healing activity was evaluated. The compound, 1,4-polyisoprene, showed significant wound closure and improved tensile strength of the wounds. Moreover, it also increased biochemical and antioxidant/inflammatory parameters, promoting tissue regeneration and collagen formation.

Summary: The roles of melatonin and resveratrol in mediating the protective effects on the heart in aged female rats with streptozotocin-induced diabetes were investigated. It was found that the combination of melatonin and resveratrol can reverse the decreased expression of GLUT4, SIRT1, and PGC-1 alpha genes, and increase antioxidant activity in the heart tissue of diabetic rats.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the ameliorative potential of GPTN against PQ-induced testicular damages. Results showed that PQ exposure caused biochemical abnormalities, decreased spermatogenic indices, altered hormone levels, induced cell apoptosis, and led to histopathological damages. However, GPTN was able to reverse these impairments, indicating its antioxidant, androgenic, and anti-apoptotic potential.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) on an animal model of diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM). The results indicated that AuNPs reduced the pathological conditions associated with DCM, suggesting a therapeutic potential for AuNPs in the treatment of early DCM. Further research is needed to explore the mechanisms by which AuNPs may prevent the development of DCM.

Summary: This study investigated the ameliorative effects of ethanolic Nerium flower extract (NFE) in STZ-induced diabetic rats. The results showed that NFE could decrease blood glucose and HbA1c levels, increase insulin and C-peptide levels. Additionally, NFE improved liver damage biomarkers and lipid profile parameters in the serum. Furthermore, NFE exhibited anti-immunotoxic and anti-neurotoxic effects in the liver tissue of diabetic rats. In conclusion, the flower extract of Nerium plant may have potential as an antidiabetic agent.

Summary: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease with a high mortality rate that significantly reduces the quality of life for people worldwide. Metformin is a commonly used drug for treating type 2 diabetes. Emodin has various protective effects and is widely used in holistic medicine. This study investigated the effects of emodin, metformin, and their combination on liver and kidney tissues in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

Summary: The acetone extract of Turbinaria decurrens showed significant antidiabetic properties in alloxan-induced diabetic rats, lowering blood glucose levels, improving liver and kidney functions, and reducing hyperlipidemia. The extract also aided in recovery of body weight loss and improvements in organ histopathological disorders related to diabetes. These effects are attributed to the presence of bioactive compounds such as cyclotrisiloxane, hexamethyl, and cyclic diterpene 3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-2-hexadecen-1-ol in the extract.
