Summary: This study used Mendelian randomization to investigate the causal relationship between hypertension, antihypertensive drugs, and the risk of erectile dysfunction. It found that genetically predicted hypertension increases the risk of erectile dysfunction, while elevated systolic/diastolic blood pressure is not causally associated with erectile dysfunction. Furthermore, there is little evidence that antihypertensive drugs increase the risk of erectile dysfunction.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the effects of pravastatin on the generation of circulating extracellular vesicles in women at high risk of term preeclampsia. The results showed that pravastatin can reduce the levels of cell-derived membrane vesicles in the circulation of high-risk preeclampsia patients, which may help reduce the characteristics of endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, and other features of the disease.

Summary: A study found that male cannabis users are younger, have fewer comorbidities, and have better sexual performance compared to non-users. Cannabis use is associated with a more unstable relationship and a higher frequency of masturbation. Cannabis use may improve anthropometric and lipid profiles as well as penile arterial response in patients with sexual dysfunction.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the associations between PBR, PBR-hf, and MVHS with cardio-renal risk factors in individuals with type 1 diabetes, as well as compare these dimensions with controls. Results showed that the endothelial glycocalyx dimension was impaired in individuals with T1D compared to controls, but there was no association with albuminuria levels or cardio-renal risk factors. The use of the GlycoCheck device may not contribute significantly to cardio-renal risk stratification in T1D.

Summary: This study assessed the association between antidiabetic drugs and stroke risk using Mendelian randomization. The results showed that genetic proxies for sulfonylureas, which lower blood glucose, were associated with a lower risk of any stroke and any ischemic stroke. However, other types of glucose-lowering drugs were not associated with stroke risk.

Summary: This study utilized bidirectional Mendelian randomization to investigate the causal effects between cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and erectile dysfunction (ED). The findings suggest that CVDs are causal risk factors for ED, but ED does not directly result in the development of CVDs.

Summary: Erectile dysfunction is a common condition, mainly caused by vascular factors and endothelial dysfunction, which has a close connection with cardiovascular disease. Early detection of ED can help prevent cardiovascular risks. Therefore, patients presenting with ED should undergo cardiac assessment and treatment.

Summary: Hypertension and osteoporosis are common comorbidities in the elderly. The effects of antihypertensive drugs on bone metabolism are controversial, with different drugs having different effects. Some drugs may improve bone density by stimulating osteoblast differentiation and reducing osteoclast generation, while others may not have a significant relationship with bone density or strength, and may even increase fracture risk.

Summary: This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the determinants of hypertension (HTN) in hemophiliacs. It discusses the impact of factors specific to hemophilia, such as type, severity, and the presence of inhibitors. Additionally, it addresses the complex mechanisms of kidney dysfunction, endothelial dysfunction, and the association between HTN and hemophilic arthropathy. The clustering of cardiovascular risk factors in hemophiliacs exacerbates the negative vascular effects of HTN and increases the risk of coronary and cerebrovascular events.

Summary: This study establishes an explant system that allows direct visualization of the sinusoidal lumen in the penis, enabling the evaluation of dynamic movements during erection. The system provides unique information for investigating the novel regulations of erectile function and analyzing the pathology of erectile dysfunction (ED), ultimately aiding in the development of new treatments.

Summary: This study evaluated the ASCVD risk and statin use in patients with MAFLD. The results showed that over 46% of MAFLD patients had intermediate or high 10-year ASCVD risk, but the utilization rate of statins was only 48.3%, indicating underutilization of statins in this population.

Summary: This study used LSCI combined with PORH to evaluate skin microvascular function in PA patients, and found that SMF was significantly impaired in PAs compared to EHs and NTs, with a positive correlation between plasma aldosterone and occlusion flux in PAs. Further research is needed to explore the clinical implications of these findings in terms of pathophysiology and cardiovascular risk prediction.

Summary: The review summarized the latest data on the association between primary aldosteronism and resistant hypertension, emphasizing the importance of screening all patients with resistant hypertension for primary aldosteronism. Epidemiological data suggests that up to 20% of patients with resistant hypertension may have primary aldosteronism. Patients with this condition are at increased risk of renal disease, diabetes mellitus, atrial fibrillation, and obstructive sleep apnea, and they also have extended target organ damage and higher cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Specific treatments, such as adrenalectomy and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, can significantly reduce blood pressure, reverse target organ damage, and mitigate cardiovascular risk. Therefore, evaluating all patients with resistant hypertension for primary aldosteronism is crucial for improving their quality of life and cardiovascular profile.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) and macrovascular endothelial function in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). The results suggest that ADMA may be associated with accelerated atherosclerosis in early stages of SSc, as evidenced by a significant positive correlation between ADMA levels and carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) in individuals with early SSc.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the association between diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and sexual dysfunction (SD), including erectile dysfunction (ED) and female sexual dysfunction (FSD), in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. The results showed that SD was common in older T2DM patients, with DKD affecting almost half of them. The eGFR was significantly associated with SD, ED, and FSD.
