Summary: Recent progress in optical bioimaging has led to the demand for minimal chemical reporters that can preserve the properties and activities of biomolecules. Various approaches have been developed to reduce the size of fluorescent and Raman labels to a few atoms and incorporate them into building blocks to form native-like supramolecular structures. This integration of small optical reporters into biomolecules has enabled the creation of previously inaccessible smart molecular entities, greatly expanding their applications in biological imaging.

Summary: This study explores the existing trends in examining the sequence of ink strokes using vibrational spectroscopic techniques (infrared and Raman spectroscopy) and proposes future research directions in this field. The findings suggest that factors like paper type and time gap between strokes do not affect the determination of stroke sequence. The use of multiple analytical techniques in combination with vibrational spectroscopic techniques can provide reliable results.

Summary: The regular secretion of enamel and dentine can be interrupted by stress, leading to the formation of accentuated growth lines. By using Raman spectroscopy, we have found that small biochemical changes along these accentuated lines coincide with medical events and disruptions in weight trajectory in captive macaques. In this study, we applied these techniques to investigate biochemical changes related to illness and medical treatment during early infancy in humans. Chemometric analysis revealed changes in phenylalanine and other biomolecules, indicating stress-induced alterations. Raman spectroscopy mapping of teeth can provide objective and minimally-destructive insights into an individual's stress exposure.

Summary: In this study, TERS was used to visualize the spatial distribution of adenine, protein secondary structure, and amino acids in single polyadenosine-induced tau fibrils. The findings provide insights into the incorporation of the polyadenosine cofactor in the fibril structure and its interaction with amino acids. TERS proves to be a powerful technique for studying cofactors in individual tau fibrils and their mode of interaction.

Summary: Questioned document examination aims to determine if a document has been forged, and spectroscopy-based methods are the preferred technique for this evaluation. In recent years, Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionisation-Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MALDI-MSI) has emerged as a powerful tool for analyzing finger marks, blood, and hair. This study investigated the use of MALDI-MSI combined with chemometric approaches to differentiate between different gel pen inks over a period of 44 days, achieving accurate classification and demonstrating the potential for further studies.

Summary: This study developed a method based on surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy for rapid, real-time, and in situ monitoring of the penetration behavior of Irgacure 907 into three types of plastics with common solvents for inks use. The results revealed the penetration ability order of Irgacure 907 with different solvents and found that polyethylene terephthalate and polypropylene were more effective in blocking the penetration of Irgacure 907 compared to polyethylene.

Summary: In this study, ER-targeting plasmonic nanoprobes were developed to trace molecular stress response profiling within the ER during electrical stimulation. It was found that excessive accumulation of beta-misfolded proteins after electrical stimulation led to disruption of ER homeostasis and mitochondrial dysfunction. Furthermore, increasing voltage levels resulted in calcium ion imbalance and inhibition of tumor cell migration.

Summary: This study explores the feasibility of ink diffusion based on Raman spectra monitoring and identifies ink types using OPLS-DA multivariate modeling. The kinetics of ink diffusion can be elucidated by the interplay of chromatographic effects and diffusion equilibrium. The OPLS-DA model demonstrated 100% accuracy in differentiating between all types of stamp inks, affirming the significant potential of Raman spectroscopy for forensic science applications.

Summary: The study investigated the interference effects on spectral quality of pancreatic tissues measured in transmission and transflection mode with FT-IR microscopy. The removal of paraffin altered interference magnitude in transflection, providing a platform for detailed analysis of its effect on biological material spectra. Transflection mode measurements show potential in histological classification, but require comparison with transmission mode.

Summary: Raman spectroscopy is a sensitive and non-destructive technique for structural analysis, but its low signal-to-noise ratio makes it challenging to implement. This paper proposes a MFED model based on a convolutional neural network and multi-scale feature extraction fusion block, which improves the generalization and robustness of the model. The MFED model shows excellent denoising performance using the mixed Poisson-Gaussian noise model and multi-scale feature extraction. The results demonstrate the applicability and superiority of the proposed approach, making it promising for Raman analytics in research and practices.
