Summary: Agricultural extension, particularly through farmer field schools (FFS), is effective in improving farmers' cognition and adoption of new agricultural technologies. However, the impact of FFS varies across different categories of technologies, with facility technologies being difficult to extend and new varieties being easier to disseminate but harder to adopt by farmers. Adjusting FFS programs to cater to the attributes of different technologies is crucial for successful technology extension.

Summary: In the wake of recent climate changes, extension services have become crucial in disseminating information and promoting sustainable agricultural productivity. Traditional extension methods in Pakistan have not achieved the expected outcomes, leading to the introduction of participatory approaches such as farmers' field schools. This study examined the impact of farmers' field schools on the adoption of sustainable agriculture practices and citrus yield. The findings show that participants of farmers' field schools have a higher adoption rate of sustainable agriculture practices and achieve higher citrus yields compared to non-participants. Strengthening and expanding farmers' field schools among citrus growers is recommended.

Summary: This paper analyzes the impact of family capital on farmers' participation in farmland transfer, finding that human capital, economic capital, and cultural capital significantly affect farmland transfer, while social capital has a lesser role. To accelerate farmland transfer development, it is necessary to guide surplus rural labor towards non-agricultural employment, improve the farmland system, establish a land transfer trading platform, and strengthen social security construction.

Summary: This study assesses the use of WhatsApp Group for participatory monitoring in a rice farming program in a rural village of Sarawak, Malaysia. The study finds that WhatsApp Group offers flexibility and methodological diversity in participatory monitoring, but there are limitations in terms of participation and negotiation due to group structure. Agricultural policies should prioritize inclusive access to ICT devices and facilities to effectively promote digital platforms. The study also suggests that social media can enhance multi-stakeholder participation, but should be complemented with non-ICT means of communication for rural farming communities.

Summary: The tendency of providers to selectively serve clients based on sociodemographic traits, known as cream skimming, is believed to increase discrimination under marketization. However, little is known about discrimination in marketized welfare services and the factors driving such biased treatment, due to a lack of experimental research. This study focuses on the Swedish school sector and finds clear evidence of ethnic and socioeconomic discrimination, but no significant differences based on school type or market competition.

Summary: This study examines cocoa farmers' participation in Farmer Business Schools (FBS) in Ghana, and the impacts of their participation on livelihood outcomes and productivity. The results show that financial capital and social capital have a positive influence on participation, while human capital and physical capital have a negative influence. FBS provides farmers with new farming methods, problem-solving skills, and managerial skills. Participation in FBS has a positive impact on cocoa farmers' productivity and per capita expenditure, but the impact varies among individuals.

Summary: The Peruvian government used budget incentives to promote social distancing and food safety measures in urban food markets. Surveys show that municipality-owned markets had better compliance than privately or vendor-owned markets, especially in terms of vendor protection measures and common space adaptations. A small-grants or loan facility specifically targeted at vendor-owned markets could have improved governance and compliance.
