Summary: This study constructed a prognostic model consisting of eleven NRlncRNAs, which can accurately predict the prognosis of patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma and endocervical adenocarcinoma. Immune-related signaling pathways were found to be significantly enriched in the high-risk subgroup, and the low-risk subgroup had higher mutation frequency in mutated genes and survival probability trend compared to the high-risk subgroup.

Summary: Although the role of endoglin on endothelial cells has been extensively studied, its expression and biological function on cancer cells, particularly squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cells, remain unclear. This study investigated endoglin expression and function in three types of SCCs and found that endoglin is selectively expressed by individual SCC cells in tumor nests. Additionally, endoglin overexpression leads to increased levels of soluble endoglin, which in turn decreases BMP-9 signaling. However, endoglin does not directly affect SCC cell proliferation or migration.

Summary: The study highlights the important tumor suppressor role of NAD(+)-dependent histone deacetylase sirtuin 6 in squamous cell carcinoma, as well as the existence of a subset of highly glycolytic tumor-propagating cells with elevated antioxidant capacity. These findings emphasize the key role of metabolism in intra-tumor heterogeneity.

Summary: Renal cancer stem cells (RCSCs) derived from ccRCC tissues with higher MVD have strong stemness and EPCs-like characteristics. The high expression of lncRNA PVT1 is crucial for maintaining RCSC stemness and EPCs-like characteristics. PVT1 binds with TAZ protein and inhibits its phosphorylation, promoting RCSC stemness. Furthermore, RCSCs support endothelial differentiation and angiogenesis through the PVT1/miR-15b/KDR axis.

Summary: SHR-1701, a bispecific fusion protein targeting PD-L1 and TGF beta, shows promising clinical efficacy in advanced/recurrent cervical cancer. A recent study provides evidence that the TGF beta pathway can be successfully targeted, and bispecific antibodies offer a novel therapeutic approach for this.

Summary: Studying patient-derived cSCC and adjacent normal tissues revealed a hybrid EMT process within individual cSCC tumors, where cells at the tumor edges displayed a more mesenchymal phenotype, while cells in the center maintained higher expression of epithelial markers. This dynamic may be regulated by miRNA and associated transcription factors, impacting therapeutic strategies for more invasive disease.

Summary: The study found that elevated ATAD2 expression was significantly associated with lymph node metastasis, advanced clinical stage, and poor survival of ESCC patients. ATAD2 promotes ESCC metastasis through regulating the C/EBP beta /TGF-beta 1/Smad3/Snail signaling pathway.

Summary: This study found that M2 tumor-associated macrophages (M2-TAMs) promote stemness characteristics and induce cisplatin resistance in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cells by secreting TGF-beta 1. This finding helps to understand the mechanism of chemotherapy resistance in ESCC.

Summary: Oleuropein (OL) inhibits the growth and metastasis of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (SCCHN) by interfering with the TGF-beta 1 signaling pathway and changing the morphology and expression levels of cancer cells. These findings are beneficial for the development of prevention and treatment strategies for SCCHN.
