Summary: This study examines the patterns of barriers and facilitators between high- and low-enrolling community-based clinics for AYA patients with cancer. High-enrolling clinics face more barriers downstream in the enrollment process, such as physician gatekeeping, while low-enrolling clinics struggle with earlier steps in the CCT enrollment process, such as identifying eligible trials. These findings highlight the need for multi-level, tailored interventions to improve AYA enrollment in the community setting.

Summary: This study systematically assessed the awareness of, utilization of and satisfaction with psychosocial care for adolescents and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors in aftercare. The results showed that survivors who were aware of psychosocial services were more likely to use them and expressed satisfaction with their use. Female gender and high anxiety were identified as common factors associated with the utilization of psychosocial services.

Summary: This study explores the usage and sensory perceptions of blended and concept flavors among young e-cigarette users. The majority of users reported using products with blended descriptors and described them as fruity, sweet, and cooling. These findings can inform public health interventions aimed at reducing e-cigarette use among young people.

Summary: This ongoing clinical trial aims to investigate the appeal and impact of menthol cigarettes on smoking behavior in young adult smokers. Through laboratory assessment and real-world evaluation, the study will analyze the role of these variables in smoking behavior and infer the abuse liability of menthol cigarettes. The findings will provide valuable insights for regulatory decisions regarding menthol cigarettes.

Summary: Adolescents and young adults (AYAs) have unique needs and face worse outcomes in cancer care compared to children and older adults. Understanding their psychosocial and informational needs is crucial for improving cancer care delivery. This study interviewed AYAs with cancer to understand their perspectives, identify needs, and develop recommendations for cancer care delivery and accommodations.

Summary: The study found that themes such as personal privacy and controlled sharing of information, independence, identity formation, positivity, acknowledgment of cancer versus being treated normally, and receiving support instead of supporting others have a significant impact on interactions and development of AYA cancer survivors. These themes changed over a 1-year follow-up period, highlighting the evolving nature of social interactions and developmental effects of cancer.

Summary: Hispanic patients treated on CALGB 10403 performed similarly to NHWs and better than population estimates, with higher rates of protocol completion. However, there was a geographical misalignment between trial sites and disease epidemiology, possibly explaining the lower-than-expected enrollment of Hispanic AYA ALL patients.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of psychosocial, behavioral, and supportive interventions for pediatric, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivors, showing an overall moderate and statistically significant treatment effect size. However, interventions were not effective for certain outcome domains, and less effective among adolescent and young adult compared to pediatric cancer survivors.

Summary: The RAPPORT trial investigated the combination of high-dose precision radiotherapy and a short course of immunotherapy in patients with low-volume metastatic kidney cancer. The results showed that this treatment regimen was well tolerated, with excellent cancer control in known disease sites, and a proportion of patients were free from cancer relapse in the longer term. These findings are encouraging and warrant further investigation.

Summary: Platinum is detected in semen of testicular cancer survivors at higher levels than matched blood samples. While semen platinum level was not significantly associated with impaired fertility, sperm concentration was correlated with time from last cisplatin dosing. Further study is needed to assess the relationship between platinum persistence in semen and recovery of fertility postchemotherapy.

Summary: The aim of this review was to synthesize literature on masculinity and testicular cancer (TC) and investigate its impact on men's view of their masculinity. Results indicated that some men experience a shift in their sense of masculinity following TC diagnosis and treatment. Being single and without children was associated with negative outcomes related to masculinity, potentially due to a lack of relational support and inability to conform to traditional protector and provider roles. Men who viewed testicle loss as symbolic of diminished masculinity also had negative experiences. However, recent high-quality literature using validated masculinity measures was limited.

Summary: Psychological distress is common in men with testicular cancer, and masculinities may work to explain this. This study found that masculinities are implicated in psychological distress in men with testicular cancer, and psychological flexibility as well as leveraging masculine beliefs, such as optimistic action, may be modifiable targets to reduce distress.
