Summary: An axial DC magnetic field-assisted multi-capillary underwater air bubble discharge plasma jet was used to investigate the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The results showed that the rotational and vibrational temperatures of the plasma species slightly increased with magnetic field strength, while the electron temperature and density increased almost linearly. The plasma treated water exhibited enhanced electrical conductivity, oxidative reduction potential, and concentrations of O-3 and H-2-O2. Additionally, the model wastewater treated with the plasma jet demonstrated improved decolorization efficiency and reduced power consumption and electrical energy cost.

Summary: This study optimized the dyeing parameters for wool using Berberis thunbergii DC leaves as a natural dye source, aiming to introduce a new sustainable coloration process. The results showed that increasing dye concentration and dyebath temperature increased color strength (K/S), while increasing dyebath pH and mordant concentration decreased K/S. The optimal pH, dye concentration, dyeing temperature, and mordant concentration for achieving the highest K/S were 5, 146%owf, 76°C, and 3.8%owf, respectively. The samples dyed under the optimal conditions exhibited good color fastness properties.

Summary: This study investigated the flocculation and/or sedimentation of polystyrene nano-plastics (PS-NPs) in salt solutions and protein solutions. The results showed that salt solutions significantly promoted the aggregation of PS-NPs, while protein-coated PS-NPs also aggregated. Moreover, 500 nm PS-CHO particles settled into sedimentation without flocculation. Therefore, Raman spectrometry is suitable for analyzing assembled PS-NPs but not normal PS-NPs.

Summary: This study reports on the use of D5 solvent as a green penetration dyeing system for wool fiber, with a mixture of natural dyes. The ideal dyeing conditions were determined by analyzing various variables, such as AEO-3 concentration, aqueous pick-up rate, solution pH, dyeing time, temperature, dye mass, and dye fixation percentage. The results showed that the suggested dyeing parameters achieved good washfastness and stainfastness, and the original and dyed wool fiber maintained their characteristics throughout the dyeing process, making the D5 solvent an effective medium for industrializing natural dyes.

Summary: In this research, the improvement in colorfastness of a yellow natural pigment derived from Coral Jasmine using eco-friendly shade developers and microwave radiation was investigated. The study found that adding 35 mL of yellow water extract to wool, treated with microwave radiation and salt, resulted in a high color yield. The addition of tannic acid, orange peel, acacia, and pomegranate extract before and after dyeing also produced colorfast shades. These findings suggest that the combination of eco-friendly mordants and microwave radiation enhances the dyeing behavior of Nyctanthes Arbortristis wool, making the process more sustainable and valuable.

Summary: This study created a database by evaluating the color of polyester fabrics dyed with madder root at different dyeing conditions. Statistical analysis was conducted to analyze the relations between dyeing parameters and color coordinates, and models were established using linear regression and artificial neural network (ANN). The results showed that ANN with two, one, and two hidden layers accurately predicted the color coordinates. Additionally, a multi-objective optimization method was used to determine the dyeing parameters for achieving the desired color, and the proposed method demonstrated high efficiency in comparison with the actual dyeing parameters.

Summary: This study aimed to fabricate superhydrophobic fabric using a simple immersion technique. Silica nanoparticles prepared from tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) were coated on textile fabrics to achieve sufficient roughness and hydrophobic surface chemistry. The coated fabrics were further treated with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) to reduce surface energy. The effects of PDMS concentration on the surface morphology and superhydrophobicity of the fabric were investigated. Characterization of the superhydrophobic fabric revealed the formation of spherical silica nanoparticles with an average size of 250 nm on the fabric surface. The hydrophobicity of the treated fabric, measured through water contact angle, showed excellent water repellency with a high contact angle of 151 degrees and a low sliding angle. The treated fabric also maintained its hydrophobicity after repeated washing cycles. Additionally, the comfort properties of the superhydrophobic fabric were not significantly affected.

Summary: Galactomannans are naturally occurring polysaccharides extracted from legume plant seeds. They possess unique properties such as emulsifying, thickening, and gelling, as well as biodegradability, biocompatibility, and non-toxicity, making them an appealing material. Guar gum and locust bean gum are commonly used, while tara gum and fenugreek gum have gained attention in recent years. Despite increased usage in textile-related fields, there is currently no review article available. This review aims to fill this gap by providing a concise summary of galactomannan properties, comparisons, recent developments, applications, and potential opportunities in the textile industry.

Summary: In this study, cotton fabrics were dyed using aluminum potassium sulfate, weld, and madder as natural dyes. The color coordinates (L*, a*, b*) were measured and it was found that all three materials had a significant effect on the color of the fabric samples. Regression, artificial neural network (ANN), fuzzy logic, and support vector machine (SVM) models were used to predict the color coordinates based on the concentration of the dyeing materials. Optimization techniques such as genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization (PSO), and gray wolf optimization (GWO) were applied to improve the accuracy of the models. The results showed that the ANN optimized with GWO had the highest accuracy for predicting L* and b*, while the ANN optimized with PSO had the least mean absolute percentage error for predicting a*.
