Summary: The study found that 19-HB inhibits the proliferation, migration, and invasion, and promotes the apoptosis of NSCLC cells through the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway. Additionally, 19-HB inhibited the growth of xenograft tumors in nude mice with limited toxicity to the liver and kidney.

Summary: This study identifies a novel role of mucin 1 (MUC1) in promoting mitophagy and maintaining the malignancy of cancer cells. MUC1 interacts with ATPase family AAA domain-containing 3A (ATAD3A) and induces its degradation, resulting in protection of PTEN-induced kinase 1 (Pink1) from ATAD3A-mediated cleavage. Inhibition of mitophagy suppresses MUC1-induced cancer cell activity. The findings provide a new therapeutic approach for MUC1-positive cancers.

Summary: The long non-coding RNA UCC acts as a competing endogenous RNA of miR-143-3p and upregulates SOX5 by absorbing miR-143-3p, resulting in proliferation and migration of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells both in vitro and in vivo. UCC enhances carcinogenesis of NSCLC cells via the miR-143-3p/SOX5 axis, which may function as a novel target for NSCLC treatment.

Summary: The study demonstrated that TFF-1 is expressed and secreted in adenocarcinoma-derived lung cancer cells, where its overexpression drives cell cycle transition and increases apoptosis, while suppressing cell migration and invasion. The suppressive effects on proliferation and migration can be restored by transfection of TFF-1 specific siRNA.

Summary: PSMD3 is overexpressed in lung cancer tissues and cells, promoting cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, as well as stabilizing ILF3 protein expression and deubiquitination. The ILF3 inhibitor YM155 can suppress tumor growth in the presence of PSMD3, indicating that the PSMD3/ILF3 axis may be a novel strategy for diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.

Summary: This study aimed to clarify the role of miR-126 in the biological behaviors of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells, including cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis. The results showed that miR-126 was significantly down-regulated in NSCLC, and overexpression of miR-126 inhibited cell proliferation, migration, and invasion while promoting cell apoptosis.

Summary: This study reveals the upregulation of RNF187 in colorectal cancer (CRC) and its association with poor prognosis. Inhibition of RNF187 expression suppresses the proliferation, migration, and invasion while promoting apoptosis of CRC cells. miR-144-5p is identified as a direct target of RNF187, and its downregulation in CRC tissues is negatively correlated with RNF187 expression. Restoration of miR-144-5p significantly inhibits CRC cell progression, which can be abolished by overexpression of RNF187.

Summary: Both a-Humulene and sclareol in combination synergistically inhibit the growth of pancreatic cancer cells by inducing apoptosis, suppressing migration, invasion, and sphere formation. Mechanistically, the combination decreases the levels of NF-kappa B, pAkt, and Bcl-2 and increases the level of Bax. In addition, the combination also suppresses tumor growth in an in vivo xenograft model.

Summary: Lung malignancy is a major cause of disease mortality worldwide, with TTR serving as a specific biomarker for clinical diagnosis. Research on the impact of abnormal TTR expression on NSCLC showed that upregulation of TTR suppressed cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and increased apoptosis. In vivo experiments confirmed that overexpression of TTR promoted cell apoptosis and inhibited tumor growth, suggesting a potential antitumor effect of TTR in human NSCLC progression.

Summary: Ischemic stroke is a common and serious disease, and neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in its progression. Microglia, astrocytes, and infiltrating immune cells are involved in the complicated neuroinflammation cascade, releasing different molecules that affect inflammation. Flavonoids, plant-specific compounds, have shown protective effects against cerebral ischemia injury by modulating the inflammatory responses.
