In this paper, well-defined TiO2/CdS hollow hybrids with large specific surface area and improved visible light absorption were synthesized as photocatalysts towards degradation of organic pollutes under visible light irradiation. As started from SiO2 nanosphere template, TiO2 and CdS were successively loaded, the TiO2/CdS hollow hybrids were finally obtained after calcination and alkali etching processes. These TiO2/CdS hollow hybrids were investigated towards organic pollutes (Rhodamine B and phenol) degradation, showing the enhanced photocatalytic activity and good recyclability while compared with pure TiO2 hollow nanospheres. With the improved visible light photocatalytic performance, these TiO2/CdS hollow hybrids are expected to be potential photocatalysts in environmental remediation.
