Summary: This single center retrospective study found that the induction therapy strategy in lung transplantation has a significant impact on survival rates. The Alemtuzumab group had fewer episodes of acute cellular rejection in the first year and significantly higher overall survival rate compared to the Basiliximab group.

Summary: The study retrospectively evaluated the outcomes of liver retransplantation and found that overall and graft survival rates were comparable to those of primary liver transplantation, indicating that modern liver retransplantation is a safer option for patients with liver graft failure.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcomes of heart retransplantation and found that the long-term survival rate after retransplantation was lower than after primary heart transplantation. Although the short-term outcomes were similar between the two groups, heart retransplantation should still be considered for select patients to optimize donor organ usage.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence and severity of chronic lung disease (CLD) after neonatal extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and identified factors associated with its development. The results showed a significant incidence of CLD, with underlying conditions such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), early initiation of ECMO, and ECMO duration over 7 days being risk factors for its development.

Summary: Pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis (PPFE) is a rare condition characterized by fibrosis involving the pleura and the upper lobes. Lung transplantation (LT) is the treatment of choice for end-stage PPFE. This study reports the experience of a single center and compares it with existing evidence on the topic of LT for PPFE.

Summary: In lung transplant recipients with COVID-19 infection, two cases of pulmonary function deterioration and one case of re-infection were observed, with no deaths reported. It is suggested that steroid therapy should be initiated early in patients with pulmonary opacities.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed lung transplant recipients at a pediatric center from 2014 to 2022 and found that three out of nineteen recipients (15%) developed atrial arrhythmia. The occurrence of atrial arrhythmia occurred 9-10 days after lung transplantation, and only recipients older than 12 years old experienced this complication. Atrial arrhythmia did not affect hospital stay duration or short-term mortality. All recipients with atrial arrhythmia were discharged on medication, which was discontinued at 6 months for those without recurrence.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the survival outcomes of underweight patients who underwent lung transplantation. The study found that underweight patients had similar hospital and intensive care unit stays compared to other patients, and there was no significant difference in mortality risk between underweight patients and patients with normal BMIs. Therefore, patients with BMIs of 13-17 kg/m(2) may be candidates for lung transplantation.

Summary: Among 13 CLAD patients treated with ATG, half of them showed a favorable positive response, with most responders being in CLAD stage 1 to 2. Lung function improved after treatment. The study also found a trend toward better survival in early CLAD patients.

Summary: This study showed that different immunosuppressive regimens post lung transplantation can impact specific cell counts in the peripheral blood, and the changes in PBMC and BALIC may improve the accuracy of predicting ACR and LRTI during the differential diagnosis.

Summary: Recognition of Anti-tRNA synthetase (ARS) related interstitial lung disease (ILD) is crucial for timely treatment. This study found that 51.9% of ARS patients had ILD, which was comparable to the frequency in systemic sclerosis. The severity of lung function decline in ARS patients was similar to certain other disease groups. ARS-ILD patients had a longer time to diagnosis compared to other myositis-ILD patients.
