A precise equivalent-circuit model of a circular plate ultrasonic radiator was developed and tested by comparing the dynamic characteristics obtained with the model and a fabricated radiator. A precise equivalent-circuit model of the flat circular plate was developed based on an analytical solution that can be readily integrated with the equivalent-circuit models of its other parts: a Langevin transducer, a stepped horn, piezoelectric discs, and the head and tail. The model developed can be used for system-level analyses, for the design of a stepped plate ultrasonic radiator satisfying given specifications, if the stepped plate is then made to have almost the same dynamic characteristics.
