Electroacupuncture (EA) is an extension technique of acupuncture based on traditional acupuncture combined with modern electrotherapy. Here, we conducted a systematic review specifically to assess the effectiveness and safety of EA for acute ischemic stroke. Eight databases were searched for randomized-controlled clinical trials (RCTs) of EA for acute ischemic stroke published from inception to June 2013. Ultimately, 67 studies claimed to be RCTs. Eighteen studies with 1411 individuals were selected for the analyses, which got >= 4 yes in the domains of Cochrane risk of bias tool. The meta-analysis showed a significant effect of EA for improving Barthel Index (p < 0.00001), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (p < 0.00001), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (p < 0.00001) and Revised Scandinavian Stroke Scale (p < 0.00001) compared with western conventional treatments (WCTs). In an analysis of the total clinical efficacy rate, there was a significant difference between EA and WCTs (p = 0.0002). Adverse effects were monitored in 6 studies, and were well tolerated in all stroke patients. According to the GRADE approach, the quality of evidence was mostly high or moderate. In conclusion, this systematic review revealed the evidence in support of the use of EA for acute ischemic stroke, although further larger sample-size and rigorously designed RCTs are required.

Modulation of α7nAchR by Melatonin Alleviates Ischemia and Reperfusion-Compromised Integrity of Blood-Brain Barrier Through Inhibiting HMGB1-Mediated Microglia Activation and CRTC1-Mediated Neuronal Loss

Shuang Chen, Yanyun Sun, Fei Li, Xinyu Zhang, Xiaoyan Hu, Xiaoyun Zhao, Yixuan Li, Hui Li, Jianliang Zhang, Wenlan Liu, Guo-qing Zheng, Xinchun Jin

Summary: Studies have suggested that melatonin can reduce ischemia/reperfusion-induced blood-brain barrier damage by modulating alpha 7nACh receptor. The experimental results showed that melatonin can inhibit the increase in BBB permeability, reduce microglia activation, decrease HMGB1 release, and protect neurons by modulating alpha 7nAChR.

Effects of parent well spacing on the poroelastic behaviors in the infill zone in shale oil reservoirs: A case study in Jimsar Shale Oil, China

Zhenlin Wang, Xuyang Guo, Guoqing Zheng, Peirong Yu, Wei Wang, Yan Jin, Gang Chen

Summary: This study investigates the poroelastic changes induced by parent well depletion in the infill zone using a coupled flow and geomechanics model. The results show that increasing parent well spacing helps to maintain the pore pressure in the infill zone, but slightly increases the difficulties of initiating hydraulic fracture networks.

Summary: This paper presents a flexible capacitive pressure sensor that utilizes a biomimetic frog-leg structure as the dielectric layer. A low-cost 3D printing technique is used to fabricate the dielectric layer with 3D features. The dimensional parameters of the dielectric layer structure are optimized through experimental studies, and the feasibility of using the bionic frog-leg structure is evaluated. The sensor exhibits improved sensing performance, rapid response and recovery, and reliable long-term stability.

Superconducting Transition in Quasi-One- Dimensional Superconductor Cs2Cr3As3 Probed by DC Magnetic Susceptibility

Akihiko Sumiyama, Takumi Nagaeki, Akira Yamaguchi, Ke Jia, Jie Yang, Youguo Shi, Guo-qing Zheng

Summary: We measured the DC magnetic susceptibility of single crystals of the quasi-one-dimensional superconductor Cs2Cr3As3. Diamagnetism appears below 1.2 and 2 K for magnetic fields parallel and perpendicular to the c-axis, respectively, whereas the Meissner effect emerges at 1.2 K in both directions, suggesting that, between 1.2 and 2 K, superconductivity is filamentary along the c-axis.

Sandwich-like flexible tactile sensor based on bioinspired honeycomb dielectric layer for three-axis force detection and robotic application

Decheng Xu, Bing Hu, Guoqing Zheng, Jingyi Wang, Cuicui Li, Yunong Zhao, Zihao Yan, Ziyang Jiao, Yongci Wu, Ming Wang, Huarui Li, Xiaohui Guo

Summary: A sandwich-like flexible tactile sensor with high sensitivity, wide detection range and rapid response time was developed for electronic skin applications. The sensor demonstrated excellent performance in detecting both normal and tangential forces, with low hysteresis. Simulation modeling confirmed the working principle and characteristics of the sensor. Its application in soft manipulator grasping and gamepad rotation highlighted its potential in robotic sensing. This research opens up possibilities for tactile/pressure perception strategies in various fields such as e-skin, soft robotics, dexterous manipulation, and intelligent prosthetics.

Commensurate-to-incommensurate transition of charge-density-wave order and a possible quantum critical point in pressurized kagome metal CsV3Sb5

X. Y. Feng, Z. Zhao, J. Luo, J. Yang, A. F. Fang, H. T. Yang, H. J. Gao, R. Zhou, Guo-qing Zheng

Summary: Clarifying the interplay between charge-density waves (CDWs) and superconductivity is important in CsV3Sb5. Under hydrostatic pressures, CDW gradually changes from a commensurate to an incommensurate modulation. The appearance of short-range CDW order and the existence of a CDW quantum critical point (QCP) at a specific pressure suggest their role in determining the maximum superconducting temperature (Tc) in CsV3Sb5.

Manipulating the nematic director by magnetic fields in the spin-triplet superconducting state of CuxBi2Se3

M. Yokoyama, H. Nishigaki, S. Ogawa, S. Nita, H. Shiokawa, K. Matano, Guo-qing Zheng

Summary: Electronic nematicity is observed in various new materials as a result of rotational symmetry breaking. In this study, we successfully manipulate the nematic director, the d vector, in the spin-triplet superconducting state of CuxBi2Se3 by magnetic fields. The ac susceptibility related to the upper critical field exhibits a twofold symmetry at H = 0.5 T and a sixfold symmetry at H = 1.5 T, which is unprecedented in any superconductor. The d vector is initially locked in a certain direction but becomes unlocked by a threshold field, respecting the trigonal crystal symmetry.
