Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of covered self-expanding metallic stents as a transition to silicone stent implantation for treating severe PTBS, finding that this approach could reduce complications and improve success rates. Patients who received transitional SEMSs had smaller luminal caliber and underwent fewer transbronchial dilations before silicone stent implantation.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the risk factors for recurrence of arterial complications after pancreatectomy during the period of covered stent implantation and made recommendations for peri-stent implantation management. The results showed that pancreatic fistula was a significant risk factor for recurrence. Covered stent implantation was a feasible and effective treatment option, but rigorous management and appropriate treatment strategies were necessary.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of hybrid silicon Y stents and covered self-expanding metal stents in restoring airway patency in patients with inoperable malignant airway stenosis and fistulas. The results showed immediate relief of symptoms in a majority of patients after stent placement, significant improvements in dyspnea scores, performance scores, and performance status, with a majority of patients still alive at 6 months without major complications.

Summary: The study presents a novel approach to recurrent tracheoesophageal fistula (RTEF) through left-sided thoracoscopy, which provides feasible access to RTEF or tracheal diverticulum in a virgin operative field. This minimal invasive technique shows high effectiveness with minimal complications, offering an alternative to traditional thoracotomy.

Summary: In a randomized trial comparing MPS and FCSEMS for treating benign biliary strictures associated with chronic pancreatitis, both treatments showed similar efficacy and safety at 12 months, but FCSEMS required fewer endoscopic procedures (ERCPs) over 2 years.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the results of early and mid-term patency rates of external iliac artery (EIA) stenting using self-expanding covered stents. The results showed that self-expanding covered stents provided excellent outcomes in the treatment of obstructive EIA disease, even in cases of high tortuosity and calcifications. However, the use of stents with a diameter less than 8 mm was associated with reduced patency rates.

Summary: Diagnosis of recurrent or isolated tracheo-esophageal fistula (TEF) can be challenging and may be missed using ordinary flexible bronchoscopy and imaging studies. Low flow oxygen insufflation is a safe technique that may detect otherwise occult TEF.

Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated the use of covered, self-expanding Y-carina nitinol stents in the treatment of central airway obstruction. The results showed that the placement of these stents improved the quality of life for patients with both malignant and benign obstructions, with complications such as granulation tissue formation and mucus plugging being common.

Summary: This study introduces a technique using pectoral implants to improve male chest defects. In a case study, a 190 cc implant was successfully implanted, along with abdominal fat grafting, resulting in improved chest appearance without affecting shoulder function. This is the first study to describe the use of pectoral implants to solve donor site morbidity after pectoralis flap harvesting.
