Background and Objective: Controversial results of the association between tea (black tea, green tea, mate, and oolong tea) consumption and risk of bladder cancer were reported among epidemiological studies. Thus, we performed a meta-analysis of observational studies to investigate the association. Methods: We searched the PubMed and Embase for studies of tea consumption and bladder cancer that were published in any language up to March, 2016. Cohort or case-control studies were included in the meta-analysis. All statistical analyses were performed in Stata 12.0 software. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to assess the relationship between tea consumption and risk of bladder cancer. Results: Totally, 25 case-control studies (15 643 cases and 30 795 controls) and seven prospective cohort studies (1807 cases and 443 076 participants) were included. The meta-analysis showed that tea consumption was not significantly associated with bladder cancer risk (OR = 0.96, 95% CI 0.861.06) (in a comparison of highest vs. lowest category). No non-linearity association was observed between tea consumption and bladder cancer risk (P = 0.51 for non-linearity). Specific analysis for black tea, green tea, and mate yielded similar results. The dose-response analysis showed the summary OR for an increment of 1 cup/day of tea consumption was 1.01 (95% CI 0.971.05). Conclusion: Results based on current meta-analysis indicated that no significant association was observed between tea consumption and risk of bladder cancer.

Summary: Human microbiome research has shown the critical role of oral microbiome in health and disease, with dysbiosis being a contributory cause for diseases in multiple body systems, including a possible link between periodontal disease and prostatic disease. Research is progressing towards oral microbiome-based diagnosis and therapy for potential drug targets in systemic diseases.

Summary: The incidence and prevalence of prostate cancer increased in almost all countries in Asia, with mortality and DALY also increasing in over half of the countries. Significant regional disparities were found, with hot spots located in Western Asia for incidence, prevalence, mortality, and DALY. Additionally, Socio-Demographic Index had a positive association with mortality and negative association with DALY and MIR.

Global and Regional Burden of Bacterial Antimicrobial Resistance in Urinary Tract Infections in 2019

Xuhui Li, Hua Fan, Hao Zi, Hankun Hu, Binghui Li, Jiao Huang, Pengcheng Luo, Xiantao Zeng

Summary: This study aimed to estimate the global and regional burden of bacterial antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in urinary tract infections (UTI) in 2019. The results showed that globally, there were approximately 64.89 thousand deaths attributed to and 0.26 million deaths associated with bacterial AMR in UTI. Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae had the highest resistance rates, including resistance to fluoroquinolones, carbapenems, and third-generation cephalosporins. Tailored strategies, such as enhanced surveillance and rational use of antibiotics, should be developed for different regions based on their specific pathogen-antibiotic situations and resources.

Summary: The PRISMA-ATCM reporting guidelines were developed to address the deficiencies in the quality of SRs/MAs of animal experiments in the field of TCM. Through analysis of published SRs/MAs and consultation with experts, the guidelines were extensively revised and expanded to specifically include details about TCM intervention and animal characteristics, with illustrative examples and explanations provided for each item. PRISMA-ATCM has the potential to significantly improve the quality of SRs/MAs in the field of TCM.

A potassium-chloride co-transporter promotes tumor progression and castration resistance of prostate cancer through m(6)A reader YTHDC1

Summary: SLC12A5 functions as an oncogene to promote tumor progression and castration resistance of prostate cancer through the N6-methyladenosine (m(6)A) reader YTHDC1 and the transcription factor HOXB13. The enhanced expression of SLC12A5 mRNA is associated with neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC) progression and poor survival. SLC12A5 promotes castration resistance, cell proliferation, and migration of prostate cancer by forming a complex with nuclear m(6)A reader YTHDC1 to upregulate HOXB13.

Application of Feature Pyramid Network and Feature Fusion Single Shot Multibox Detector for Real-Time Prostate Capsule Detection

Shixiao Wu, Xinghuan Wang, Chengcheng Guo

Summary: During feature propagation, the low-level convolution layers in the forward feature propagation network lack semantic information, leading to information loss when transferring fine-grained information to higher-level convolution layers. To address this, a multi-stage feature fusion network is introduced to handle the interaction between low-level and high-level convolution layers. By incorporating a two-way feature feedback network and feature fusion mechanism, a new object detection network called Feature Pyramid Network (FPN)-based Feature Fusion Single Shot Multibox Detector (FFSSD) is developed. The proposed network achieves a mAP of 83.58% for prostate capsule image detection, demonstrating real-time detection capability. The context interaction mechanism effectively transfers high-level semantic information to low-level convolution layers, resulting in convolution with richer location and semantic information.

Aspartoacylase suppresses prostate cancer progression by blocking LYN activation

Hong Weng, Kang-Ping Xiong, Wang Wang, Kai-Yu Qian, Shuai Yuan, Gang Wang, Fang Yu, Jun Luo, Meng-Xin Lu, Zhong-Hua Yang, Tao Liu, Xing Huang, Hang Zheng, Xing-Huan Wang

Summary: The study identified aspartoacylase (ASPA) as a novel inhibitor of prostate cancer (PCa) progression. ASPA was down-regulated in PCa tissue samples and its decreased expression was associated with patients' prognosis. ASPA was found to interact with and inhibit the phosphorylation of the LYN protein and its downstream targets, playing an important role in PCa development. These findings provide new insights into the tumor-suppressive function of ASPA in PCa and suggest its potential as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target.

Alterations of gut microbiota diversity, composition and metabonomics in testosterone-induced benign prostatic hyperplasia rats

Lu-Yao Li, Jie Han, Lan Wu, Cheng Fang, Wei-Guang Li, Jia-Min Gu, Tong Deng, Chang-Jiang Qin, Jia-Yan Nie, Xian-Tao Zeng

Summary: The study investigates the regulation of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) on gut microbiota composition and metabonomics. The results show an association between gut microbiota and BPH, but the causal relationship between the two is unclear. Further studies are needed to elucidate the potential mechanisms and causal relationships between BPH and gut microbiota.
