Summary: The suitability of the 8th edition AJCC staging system for clinical staging of pancreatic cancer remains uncertain. This study validated the prognostic performance and suitability of the current staging system and found that it is not validated for clinical staging. Separate criteria more suitable for clinical staging should be considered.

Summary: CEUS is a more valuable and non-invasive imaging modality compared to conventional US in detecting extracapsular extension in papillary thyroid carcinoma. Single capsular invasion was a poor predictor of cervical lymph node metastasis, while extracapsular extension assessments were clinically significant for predicting cervical lymph node metastasis. Among the thyroid papillary carcinoma nodules with differential enhancement, hyper-enhanced nodules had the highest incidence of single capsule invasion (41.9%), while hypo-enhanced ones had a higher incidence of ECE (47.4%).

Summary: This study evaluated the whole axillary status of breast cancer patients using lymphatic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (LCEUS), and found LCEUS to be an accurate method for observing the entire axilla. Compared to conventional ultrasound and SLNs evaluation, LCEUS had higher diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy when used for assessing the whole axilla.

Summary: Experienced and less experienced observers showed moderate interobserver agreement for assessing local tumor extension in cervical cancer patients using transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) while MRI observers had moderate-to-good agreement. The level of interobserver agreement was associated with experience among TVS observers only for parametrial invasion.

Summary: This study aims to explore the potential impact of a dedicated virtual training course on MRI staging confidence and performance in rectal cancer. The results show that although most of the findings are not statistically significant, there is a mild increase in diagnostic accuracy for most staging variables after completing the course, ranging from +2% to +17%. There is also an improvement in interobserver agreement for almost all variables when comparing the pre- and post-course. The perceived difficulty level decreases significantly after completion of the course, indicating an improved diagnostic confidence.

Summary: This study evaluated the preoperative diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced lymphatic ultrasound (CEUS) for the sentinel lymph node (SLN) status in early breast cancer. The results showed that CEUS demonstrated better diagnostic performance and greater clinical benefits than conventional ultrasound, and had the potential to select candidates for axillary surgery.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the factors influencing lymph node metastasis (LNM) and develop a more effective method for preoperative N staging assessment. Retrospective analysis of 2130 patients with thyroid cancer who underwent thyroidectomy between 2018 and 2021 was conducted. The study found that serum thyroglobulin was an independent predictor of LNM, and the combined method had a higher diagnostic value for LNM compared to ultrasound alone.

Summary: This study analyzes the clinicopathological features and outcomes in patients with endometrial cancer with isolated lymphatic recurrence after lymphadenectomy. The results show that low-grade histology and absence of lymphovascular space invasion in the primary tumor are predictors of improved prognosis in these patients. In addition, it is found that patients with isolated lymphatic recurrence who undergo surgical treatment have improved cause-specific survival.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the value of rectal cancer T-staging on MRI in relation to fibrotic transformation of the tumour bed. The results showed that ymrT-staging has moderate accuracy, with higher accuracy in patients with predominant fibrosis. Therefore, radiologists should focus on detecting residual disease and identifying potential candidates for organ preservation.

Summary: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a connective tissue disease characterized by immune irregularity, vasculopathy, and excessive collagen production, leading to fibrosis of skin and internal organs. Lung involvement, particularly interstitial lung disease (ILD), is the leading cause of death in SSc. The emergence of different treatment options in recent years has brought hope to clinicians in managing this disease.

Summary: This study investigates the symptoms and risk factors of post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 in survivors. The prevalence of persistent symptoms was found to be 24.3%, with dyspnea, fatigue, arthralgia-myalgia, cough, and back pain being the most common sequelae. Having lung diseases, a history of intensive care support, the requirement for long-term oxygen therapy, and a history of cytokine storm were identified as risk factors for the persistence of dyspnea.

Summary: The study evaluated 83 patients with COVID-19 pneumonia and found that older age and more comorbidities were associated with poorer outcomes; in patients receiving azithromycin plus hydroxychloroquine and other antibiotics plus hydroxychloroquine, the duration of hospitalization was shorter in the azithromycin group.
