Reversible hydrogen storage has been found in transition metal alanates, Y(AlH4)(3), for the first time. An amount of 3.4 wt% H-2 can be released at 140 degrees C fromthe first dehydrogenation step of Y(AlH4)(3), and 75% of it is reversible at 145 degrees C and 100 bar H-2, which holds promise for low- temperature applications.
