Summary: This study investigated the dermoscopic presentation of cutaneous melanoma metastases (CMM) and its possible association with the clinical and histologic characteristics of melanoma. The results showed diverse dermoscopic patterns of CMM, which may be associated with different tumor characteristics.

Summary: This study compared the clinical effectiveness, histological response, HPV clearance, acceptance, and psychosexual morbidity of primary imiquimod treatment versus surgical treatment in women with vHSIL. The results showed that imiquimod treatment was as effective as surgery in achieving complete clinical response, suggesting that it can be considered as a first-line treatment option.

Summary: Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, accounts for almost 90% of skin cancer mortality. Despite advances in immune and targeted therapies, many patients still experience disease progression. Skin metastases, a common occurrence in melanoma, can be treated through various methods including surgery, injections, and systemic therapies. Further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms and differences in behavior and prognosis among melanoma patients with skin metastases.

Summary: Advancements in immunotherapies and targeted agents have improved systemic therapies for managing brain metastases in melanoma, with the use of dual-agent immune checkpoint inhibitors showing promising results. Additionally, the BRAF V600 mutation is a key genetic mutation in cutaneous melanoma, impacting clinical decision-making in later-stage disease.

Summary: Melanoma, the most lethal form of skin cancer, has seen a revolution in therapeutic options in the past decade with the introduction of targeted therapies and immune-checkpoint inhibitors. However, patients with advanced disease require new treatment options. A clinical case highlighted the successful treatment of a melanoma patient with the SMO p.Gln216Arg mutation using imiquimod, shedding light on a potentially druggable target for melanoma patients.

Summary: This study analyzed a large cohort of patients with melanoma in-transit metastasis (ITM) treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) and found that ICI is an effective treatment option for ITM. The overall response rate was 56%, and the complete response rate was 36%. Future studies should evaluate the role of immunotherapy in multimodality therapy.

Summary: This study found that recurrence after surgical resection of a first ITM was common, with different patterns of recurrence depending on the anatomical site. Lower limb ITMs were more likely to have further ITM recurrences, associated with longer distant recurrence-free survival, while head and neck ITMs were more common to have distant metastasis and worse survival.

Summary: The study found that BRAF mutation status, CD8 and PD-1 expression on tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), and tumor PD-L1 expression were not significantly associated with response to DPCP in treating ITMs. Patients with BRAF wild-type tumors were more likely to experience a complete response to DPCP. Peritumoral TILs and PD-1 expressions may predict a better response to DPCP.

Summary: In recent years, the issue of oncology in pet rabbits has become increasingly prominent as medical treatments are needed more frequently. This report describes a case of cutaneous malignant melanoma with testicular metastases occurring in a wild rabbit, which is an uncommon metastatic site described only in human patients so far. The case presentation and detailed analysis of gross, histopathological, and immunohistochemical findings provide valuable information for understanding the biological behavior of spontaneous tumors in both animals and humans. The growing popularity of rabbits as pets allows for a greater accumulation of data on the occurrence of spontaneous tumors in these animals.

The results showed that female sex and having more than 10 tumors were significantly associated with lower HRQOL in patients with ITM.

Summary: This study reviewed current models for communicating polygenic scores (PGS) and psycho-behavioral outcomes. A total of 28 articles representing 17 studies were included. The study found limited consistency in PGS communication and evaluation of outcomes. Most studies presented risk in multiple ways and provided personalized lifestyle advice. The findings suggest the need for standardized guidelines and evidence-based interventions informed by behavior change theories.

Summary: A cross-sectional survey conducted in Australia found that most participants displayed positive attitudes towards 3D total-body photography and were willing to use it for monitoring and identifying skin lesions. Participants believed that this technology could effectively identify suspicious spots, monitor lesion changes, and reduce anxiety. However, potential barriers such as cost, accessibility, trust, and digital security concerns need to be addressed. Overall, participants showed a high level of acceptance and confidence in the technology.

Summary: This study evaluated the rate of sentinel node biopsy (SNB) in high-risk melanoma patients and identified factors associated with the procedure not being performed. The study found that although adherence to SNB guidelines has increased, the overall SNB rate remains low, with almost two-thirds of eligible cases not receiving the procedure in 2019. This study highlights the crucial need to improve access to SNB for melanoma surgery in the Queensland population.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the clinical impact and cost-effectiveness of using Melanoma surveillance photography (MSP) for individuals at ultra-high or high risk of melanoma. The study is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) conducted over 3 years, with 580 participants from three Australian states. The primary outcome measure is the number of unnecessary biopsies, and secondary outcomes include health economic outcomes, quality of life, and patient acceptability. The results of this study will contribute to policy decision-making and the clinical application of MSP.

Summary: Organ transplant recipients (OTRs) have a higher risk of basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) compared to the general population. There are some differences in the clinicopathologic features of BCCs between OTRs and the general population. Although aggressive subtypes of BCCs are less common in OTRs, BCCs that invade beyond the dermis are almost twice as prevalent in OTRs compared to the general population.
