Summary: The study revealed that circ_0119872 is upregulated in UM cell lines and tissues, promoting the malignancy of UM cells. Additionally, circ_0119872 can directly interact with miR-622, acting as a miRNA sponge to regulate the expression of the miR-622 target gene G3BP1 and downstream Wnt/beta-catenin and mTOR signaling pathways.

Summary: Understanding cancer biology and developing novel cancer treatments has always been the goal of cancer researchers. Repurposing 'old' drugs, such as itraconazole, that have already been approved for other indications, can provide an attractive alternative to the challenges of developing new drugs. Recent studies have shown that itraconazole has anti-cancer activity by inhibiting angiogenesis and oncogenic signaling pathways, particularly the hedgehog signaling pathway. It has the potential to be used as a new anti-tumor drug in combination with first-line anti-tumor drugs.

Summary: Itraconazole significantly reduces the development of esophageal adenocarcinoma and SHH expression in a preclinical animal model of Barrett's Metaplasia. In humans, BE tissue expresses higher levels of SHH, Indian Hedgehog, and bone morphogenic protein compared to normal squamous esophageal epithelium.

Summary: This study investigated the differences in cell signaling pathways related to aniridia-related keratopathy (ARK) between human fetal corneas and normal adult corneas. The findings suggest that the activation profiles of these pathways in human fetal corneas are similar to those in ARK corneas, indicating a less differentiated host milieu in ARK.

Summary: In this study, the factors and mechanisms of tooth root resorption were investigated using transgenic mice. It was found that cementum thickness and signaling pathways are associated with tooth root resorption. Dickkopf-related protein 1 was identified as a key molecule in the process of tooth root resorption. The study suggests that proper function and sustained signaling are crucial for tooth root homeostasis.

Summary: The article discusses the role of the Hedgehog signaling pathway in the occurrence and development of cancer, as well as the design and synthesis of derivatives that effectively inhibit Hedgehog channels using Itraconazole as a precursor. Compounds 12g and 12n showed stronger inhibitory effects on A549 cells compared to Itraconazole.

Summary: The network involving PI3K, AKT, and mTOR is important in melanoma oncogenesis, with RICTOR overexpression associated with poor prognosis. RICTOR enhances melanoma-initiating cells with stemness properties and contributes to resistance to BRAF inhibitors. An interaction between RICTOR and STAT3 in resistant cells, as well as a connection between RAS and RICTOR in resistant melanoma, were identified, suggesting RICTOR as a valuable therapeutic target in melanoma.

Summary: The study reveals DKK3 as a key regulator of organ regeneration by affecting generation and proliferation of stem cells. The expression levels of DKK3 are elevated in both animals and human patients upon injury. Knockout of DKK3 can reduce liver damage and accelerate recovery from pancreatitis.

Summary: Hyperglycaemia can activate multiple signaling pathways beyond the traditional IRS/PI3K/PKB pathway, including the Hedgehog and Wnt pathways. Recent findings suggest that these pathways play a role in regulating cellular homeostasis and energy balance, in addition to their known roles in cellular growth and differentiation.

Summary: This article presents a novel high-temperature heat pump (HTHP) that utilizes low-temperature waste heat. Two-phase compressors and expanders are used, eliminating the need for external electric power. A sensitivity analysis is conducted to determine the optimal operating conditions for a rubber manufacturer and a canning industry. The COP values for the HTHP system are evaluated, with the maximum value being 0.258 for the rubber manufacturer and 0.452 for the canning industry. The economic viability of the HTHP is dependent on achieving certain isentropic efficiencies for the compressors and expanders.

Summary: This recent article highlights the authorship policy of the Korean Journal of Radiology regarding artificial intelligence large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT. It points out that leading academic journals and science organizations have implemented editorial policies to prohibit the inclusion of nonhuman technologies as authors, and some even restrict the use of artificial intelligence-generated text in submitted work. The article also acknowledges the need for improvement in the architecture and code of conduct of ChatGPT before its practical implementation.
