Summary: This study aimed to identify non-coding genes that regulate metabolic function in mature neurons and found that miR-29a protects against insulin resistance obesity, hyperphagia, decreased energy expenditure, and obesity. The miR-29 family was identified as a key regulator of the PI3K-Akt-mTOR pathway.

Summary: Chronic allograft dysfunction (CAD) is a major condition affecting long-term kidney graft survival. In this study, the correlation between plasma miR-21 and the severity of CAD was investigated. RNA sequencing was performed and differentially expressed miRNAs in CAD were identified. MiR-21-5p, miR-20a-5p, and miR-101-3p were found to be associated with the TGF-beta pathway and CAD. These findings may lead to the development of early prediction miRNA biomarkers and therapeutic tools for CAD in the field of kidney transplantation.

Summary: This study investigated the therapeutic potential of miR-29a antagonist in treating OI in a mouse model. The results showed that miR-29a-AS can improve bone structure, regulate cell proliferation and osteogenesis, and does not seem to have severe hepatic or renal toxicities.

Summary: The study found that the combination of maternal inflammation and neonatal hyperoxia could lead to epigenetic changes that affect gene expression and the development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Histone methylation was found to be globally suppressed in exposed mice, and restoration of miR-29b expression reestablished methylation marks. Further research is needed to explore the causes of decreased global histone methylation and potential therapeutic opportunities.

Summary: The study revealed a potential link between miRNAs and downregulation of drug-metabolizing CYPs in HCC tumors, with miR-29c and miR-653 acting as efficient suppressors of CYP1A2 or AHR expression. This highlights a novel role of miR-653 and miR-29c in regulating CYPs involved in crucial biotransformation processes in liver, often deregulated during liver cancer progression.

Summary: The expression levels of miR-29a in endometrial tissues were found to be associated with menstrual phases and pregnancy outcome. Inhibition of miR-29a led to decreased decidualization of endometrial stromal cells (ESCs) in vitro, while restoring Tet methylcytosine dioxygenase 3 (TET3) and its potential demethylation target, the collagen type I alpha 1 chain (Col1A1).

Summary: Increased expression of miR-29c&b2 in AML patients is associated with poor overall survival, while wildtype mice with high miR-29c&b2 expression show shorter survival and heavier leukemia infiltration in extramedullary organs. MiR-29c&b2 inside leukemia cells promote EMI by targeting Hbp1 and reducing its binding to Myh10, leading to increased migration of leukemia cells.

Summary: Our study reveals that miR-29a, b, and c posttranscriptionally regulate SMCT-1 in colonic epithelial cells, with lower expression levels in the mouse colon explaining the higher SMCT-1 expression in the colon compared to the small intestine.

Summary: The study investigated the enhancement of osteogenic and angiogenic potential of Exosomes through overexpression of exosomal miRNA (microRNA) and the long-term effects of Exos loaded in HMPs (Hydrogel microparticles) on new bone formation. The research demonstrated that miR-29a overexpression inhibited HDAC4 and upregulated RUNX2 and VEGF, enhancing the osteogenic and angiogenic capabilities. The synthesized HMP@Exo system showed good injectability, compatibility, and cell adhesion properties, with sustained release of Agomir-29a-Exos enhancing cell proliferation, migration, osteogenesis, and angiogenesis. Overall, the injectable HMP@Exo system provides an innovative approach for coupling osteogenesis and angiogenesis, promoting fracture healing.

Summary: The study found that low expression of miR-29a is associated with aggressive cancer biology and worse survival in gastric cancer patients, serving as an independent prognostic biomarker of poor overall survival and disease-specific survival.

Summary: This study selected four miRNAs as candidates and used bioinformatic analyses to identify their target genes, lncRNAs, and biological processes that regulate them. In the constructed miRNA-mRNA network, 193 gene targets were identified, potentially controlling important processes such as signal transduction and cancer. LncRNA-XIST, lncRNA-NEAT1, and lncRNA-HCG18 interacted with all four miRNAs. These preliminary results lay the foundation for further understanding the role of these molecules and their interactions in HIV.

Summary: This study identified miR-29c-5p as a potential therapeutic target for managing HNSCC by inhibiting cell migration and proliferation. The effects of miR-29c-5p on HNSCC tumors were confirmed using a mouse tumor xenograft model. TMEM98 was identified as a direct target of miR-29c-5p in HNSCC cells.

Summary: This study revealed significant differences in the expression levels of microRNA-29b-3p in clinical samples and multiple miRNA databases. The specific antifibrotic mechanism of miR-29b-3p was further elucidated, showing that it inhibited HSC activation and limited the proliferation of activated HSCs through lipid droplet recovery and VEGF pathway regulation.
