Summary: A novel method for starch modification using a spray system without solvents has been developed in this study, utilizing betaine hydrochloride (BHC) as a cationic reagent. Compared to the commonly used GTMAC, BHC is more eco-friendly with lower toxicity and cost. The modified starches showed increased solubility and swelling capacity, along with decreased viscosity.

Summary: A three-component oxychalcogenation reaction is achieved in this study, using alkenes, diselenides/thiophenols, and H2O/alcohols as reactants. Tetrabutylammonium tribromide (TBATB) and dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) are employed as the catalyst and terminal oxidant, respectively, enabling the difunctionalization transformation. This metal-free reaction system shows excellent functional group compatibility and provides a unified and practical approach to access beta-hydroxyl or beta-alkoxy organochalcogenides.

Summary: A solvent recrystallization strategy was proposed to reduce the number of pinholes in perovskite films, resulting in amplified spontaneous green emissions with a low threshold and high net modal gain. The reduced threshold is attributed to low propagation loss and suppressed Auger recombination, which are achieved by forming a pinhole-free surface and enlarging grain size.
