Summary: Recent evidence suggests that miR-138-5p plays a central role in regulating hTERT expression in melanoma cells. Overexpression of miR-138-5p leads to decreased hTERT protein expression and telomerase activity, resulting in suppressed cell growth and migration abilities. Targeting miR-138-5p could be a potential strategy for advanced melanoma treatment.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third leading malignancy worldwide, causing high mortality in adults and children. This study explored the expression and function of the miR-221/AEG-1 axis in HCC. The silencing of the miR-221/AEG-1 axis induced apoptosis and G2/M phase arrest, inhibited cellular proliferation and angiogenesis in HCC cells.

Summary: In this study, it was discovered that FAM117B promotes the growth of gastric cancer cells and reduces their sensitivity to chemotherapeutic drugs. Mechanistically, FAM117B competes with NRF2 for KEAP1 binding, reducing the degradation of NRF2 and activating the KEAP1/NRF2 signaling pathway, thus promoting the growth and chemoresistance of gastric cancer cells. The high expression of FAM117B and NRF2 in tumor tissues of gastric cancer patients is an independent factor for poor prognosis.

Summary: Melanoma, originating from melanin-producing cells, carries a high risk due to its ability to rapidly spread and invade new organs. The role of p32 in melanoma progression and metastasis is still not fully understood, but knocking down p32 has been shown to reduce cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and modulate the tumor microenvironment. p32 may serve as a potential target for novel therapeutic approaches in regulating melanoma progression and metastasis.

Summary: The study identifies compounds inducing PD-L1 degradation, with EGFR inhibitors promoting PD-L1 degradation through GSK3 alpha-mediated phosphorylation. ARIH1 is identified as the E3 ubiquitin ligase targeting PD-L1 for degradation and plays a critical role in anti-tumor immunity. This research suggests that GSK3 alpha and ARIH1 may be potential drug targets to enhance anti-tumor immunity and immunotherapies.

Summary: This study demonstrates that miR-18a-5p regulates proliferation, apoptosis, and autophagy in melanoma cells by targeting the EPHA7 gene. Inhibition of miR-18a-5p suppresses cell proliferation and induces apoptosis and autophagy, while overexpression of EPHA7 reverses these effects. This research provides insight into the role of miRNAs in the pathogenesis of melanoma.

Summary: The rational design of enzymes with enhanced thermostability is efficient. This study successfully improved the thermostability and synthetic activity of a metalloprotease through a rational strategy, resulting in mutants with increased stability and enhanced Z-aspartame synthesis activity. Molecular dynamics simulation revealed that increased hydrogen bond interactions and a regional hydration shell were key factors in enhancing thermostability. This research provides valuable insights for enzyme engineering and has significant implications in industrial applications.

Summary: With high-throughput sequencing technology, a total of 74 WRKY genes were identified from the genome of Dendrobium officinale. Detailed analysis of gene structure, conserved motifs, and phylogenetic relationships revealed that these genes can be classified into three main groups and five subgroups. Chromosomal localization analysis suggested a possible genome duplication event. Expression analysis suggested the involvement of certain WRKY genes in the JA signaling pathway.

Summary: HfO2 monolayer coatings were prepared by plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD), and the effects of thermal annealing atmosphere and temperature on the properties of the coatings were investigated. The results showed that annealing in an oxygen atmosphere led to the decomposition of impurity compounds and the elimination of oxygen deficiency, resulting in lower absorption and higher laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT). The highest LIDT of 6.3 J/cm2 was obtained at an annealing temperature of 700°C, which was approximately three times higher than the as-deposited coating. This experimental result could be valuable for improving the LIDT of oxide coatings grown by PEALD or other similar methods.

Summary: Significant progress has been made in understanding the biosynthesis and regulation of flavonoids through genetic approaches, but there is still a gap in knowledge about their transport mechanisms. Currently, four transport models have been proposed, and research has been conducted on the proteins and genes associated with these models. Challenges still exist, but gaining a deeper understanding of these transport mechanisms holds great potential for various fields. This review aims to provide an overview of recent advancements in flavonoid transport mechanisms.

Summary: Membrane technology is effective for treating emulsified oil-water mixtures, but fouling of the membrane reduces its capacity. Liquid-infused membranes (LIMs) show potential for resolving fouling issues, but their low permeate flux is a limitation. By using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) to analyze 3D images, we observe the coalescence of oil droplets and formation of oil channels in LIMs, which are influenced by factors such as oil concentration, infused liquid viscosity, and operating pressure. This study provides insights into the selective permeation of dispersed liquid phases through LIMs.
