Summary: This paper estimates the potential number of lives that could be saved by implementing interventions to address risk factors for road injuries. The results show that evidence-based road safety interventions targeting the four main risk factors could prevent 25% to 40% of fatal road injuries globally.

Summary: The goal of this paper is to explore the evolution of road safety as a global public health issue and examine the political and economic factors that have contributed to this change. By discussing key stakeholders, influences, networks, issue framing, actor power, and synergistic interactions, the paper captures the important events and challenges that highlight the complexity of road safety. The authors suggest the need for the global road safety community to reassess its role and strategy and focus on implementation and country action to reduce road traffic injuries. They call for an open and inclusive process to facilitate this reflection before the end of the current decade.

Summary: The study finds that global convergence of public policies in the road safety realm varies for different measures, with child restraint laws being the only policy that shows global convergence. In terms of policy adoption mechanisms, imitation/learning and competition explain global and regional convergence outcomes more consistently, highlighting specific elective affinities in policy diffusion.

Summary: This study compared the effectiveness of the novel hemostatic peptide TDM-621 with conventional hemostatic methods for treating intraoperative blood oozing during endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). The results showed that the TDM-621 group had significantly reduced coagulations with hemostatic forceps, a higher rate of hemostasis achievement with only TDM-621, and no serious safety concerns.

Summary: The anti-HIV drug nelfinavir inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro, but its efficacy in COVID-19 patients has not been studied. A randomized controlled trial was conducted to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of nelfinavir in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients. The results showed that nelfinavir did not reduce the time to viral clearance, viral load, or the time to resolution of symptoms compared to standard-of-care alone. Therefore, nelfinavir is not recommended for asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic COVID-19 patients.
