Summary: This study aimed to establish a framework by which experts define disease subsets in systemic sclerosis associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD). The results showed that using the proposed conceptual framework, international experts were able to achieve a consensus on classifying SSc-ILD patients along the dimensions of disease severity, risk of progression and progression over time.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical characteristics and predictors of lung function changes in autoimmune PF-ILD patients. Older age and more severe clinical symptoms were observed in the IPAF group. Antifibrotic therapy had a positive impact on long-term lung function improvement in PF-ILD patients.

Summary: Progressive fibrosing interstitial lung disease (PF-ILD) is a subset of interstitial lung diseases characterized by progressive and intractable lung fibrosis, with similarities to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Recent studies have shown the clinical efficacy of antifibrotic therapy in PF-ILD, changing the treatment landscape for fibrotic lung diseases and opening the door for combined therapies targeting both fibrotic and inflammatory components.

Summary: The study aimed to test the diagnostic efficacy of EXIT 360 degrees in distinguishing executive functioning between healthy controls and patients with Parkinson's Disease (PwPD). The results showed that PwPD made more errors and took longer to complete EXIT 360 degrees. There was a significant correlation between neuropsychological tests and EXIT 360 degrees scores, indicating good convergent validity.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic accuracy of a deep learning algorithm for predicting outcomes in patients with fibrotic lung disease using high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) data. The results showed that this algorithm outperformed expert radiologist evaluation and guideline-based histologic pattern in predicting survival. It has the potential to be a useful tool in characterizing fibrotic lung disease in a multidisciplinary approach. Further research is needed to investigate its utility as a decision support system when interstitial lung disease expertise is unavailable.

Summary: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a group of diverse lung disorders that can lead to irreversible pulmonary fibrosis. While idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a common subtype, other ILD patients may develop a progressive fibrosing phenotype. Biomarker investigation has identified molecular markers that can predict disease endpoints, suggesting potential for biomarker implementation in ILD management.

Summary: Interstitial lung diseases (ILD) can have variable prognoses, but some exhibit fibrosis and progressive disease. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is the most common type, but other ILDs, such as autoimmune ILD and chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis, can also have a progressive fibrotic phenotype. The typical interstitial pneumonia pattern of lung involvement is a significant risk factor, suggesting shared fibrotic pathways that can be targeted by antifibrotic therapies. This review describes the most commonly fibrotic ILDs, shared risk factors for developing PF-ILD, and evidence for the use of antifibrotic therapies in their management.

Summary: This article examines the position of minoritised communities in palliative care research and proposes recommendations to improve the precision and rigor of research and reporting of findings. The findings suggest the need for reflection and justification of the classification of minoritised communities, exploration of intersectionality, optimization of data quality, decolonization of research teams and methods, and focus on reducing inequities in end-of-life care experiences and outcomes.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of long-term low-dose sustained-release morphine on testosterone levels in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The results showed that only 3 out of 20 participants experienced substantial declines in testosterone levels during the morphine treatment, and all three had worsening illness at the time of assessment. There was no apparent relationship between changes in testosterone, morphine dose, and breathlessness.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of age on treatment and survival in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The results showed that children received shorter and less diverse treatments for ALL compared to adolescents and young adults. The 5-year disease-specific survival rate for ALL was 84%, and children had a lower risk of death from ALL. The 5-year survival rate for AML was 73%, with no age differences. Children receiving multiple treatments for ALL had a higher risk of mortality.
