Summary: This meta-analysis compares the safety and diagnostic performance of CT-guided core needle biopsy (CNB) and fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) in lung nodules/masses patients. The results show that CNB has a significantly higher sample adequacy rate compared to FNAB, but there is no difference in diagnostic accuracy rates and safety between the two procedures.

Summary: FNA and CNB are commonly used approaches for the diagnosis of suspected neoplastic parotid gland lesions. The study found that CNB has excellent diagnostic ability, sensitivity, and specificity compared to FNA, although it requires experienced staff and good-quality equipment. The complication rates for both techniques are low, with CNB being considered the preferred technique for detecting nodules in the parotid glands.

Summary: This study introduces a new theoretically grounded measure KuLGaP for evaluating drug treatment response in mouse models. Results show that KuLGaP is more selective than other commonly used response measures, reducing the risk of false-positive calls and improving translation of laboratory results to clinical practice. Additionally, human treatment outcomes align better with the results of KuLGaP measure compared to other response measures.

Summary: Developing patient-derived tumor xenografts (PDXs) of osteosarcoma (OS) is urgently needed to study new therapeutic approaches. Researchers found that these PDX models accurately replicate the morphological and genetic features of OS, and they also maintain consistency with patients in terms of drug sensitivity when testing specific treatment regimens.

Summary: This study validated the possibility to quantify cccDNA and assess its transcriptional activity in patients with chronic hepatitis B by combining FNA and droplet digital PCR. The use of FNA in clinical trials to evaluate the intrahepatic viral reservoir during the development of new antivirals and immunomodulatory agents is supported.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of combined fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and core needle biopsy (CNB). The results showed that regardless of nodule size, combined FNA/CNB tended to yield lower proportions of inconclusive results than CNB or FNA alone and exhibited higher performance in diagnosing malignancy. The combined FNA/CNB technique may be a more valuable diagnostic method for nodules ???1.5 cm and nodules with a risk of malignancy than CNB and FNA alone.

Summary: Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and core-needle biopsy (CNB) play a useful role in diagnosing head and neck sarcomas, with CNB showing slightly higher accuracy. The diagnostic performance is more reliable for determining malignancy in vascular sarcomas, while chondrogenic sarcomas have poorer diagnostic accuracy.

Summary: Endoscopic ultrasound tissue acquisition, through EUS-FNA and EUS-FNB, is commonly used for pancreatic mass lesions, subepithelial lesions, and lymph node biopsy. While both methods are safe and offer high diagnostic value, there are potential limitations with EUS-FNA related to cytological aspirations. Comparative trials between EUS-FNA and EUS-FNB for pancreatic mass lesions have shown conflicting results, with the need for further large-scale studies for other types of lesions.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the potential of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) compared to core needle biopsies (CNB) in detecting molecular alterations in various tumor types, with a high concordance of 80% between FNA and CNB. Comparative analysis showed that FNA and CNB have similar high concordance in terms of variants and copy number variations (CNVs) identified.
