Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between carbon monoxide poisoning (CMP) and lifetime suicidal ideation/suicide plan among community residents. The results showed that CMP experience was associated with lifetime suicidal ideation, while being female was another risk factor. However, the association between CMP and suicide plan was no longer significant after false discovery rate correction. For CMP patients, experiencing CMP at least twice was associated with a higher risk of lifetime suicidal ideation.

Summary: The Chinese population is aging, leading to an increased burden on society to provide care for the elderly. Informal care by family members is the primary form of care in China due to an underdeveloped formal long-term care system. Rural and urban caregivers face different situations due to the strict household registration system. This study found that those with urban hukou were more likely to provide informal care, and education attainment was the largest contributor to the difference in care time between urban and rural populations. It highlights the need for an improved long-term care system in China, focusing on vulnerable groups such as rural hukou holders and those with lower education levels.
