Summary: Isocyanate-based graphene oxide-containing polyimide foams were synthesized using a semi-prepolymer method, with the addition of graphene oxide leading to increased crosslinking density, thermal stability, and compression strength of the foams. The study supported the theory that thermally stable and flame retardant polyimide foams can be synthesized via the isocyanate-based process with graphene oxide.

Summary: Nanostructured graphene has been widely studied in recent years due to its tunable electronic properties for various fields. However, exposure of (3,1)-chiral graphene nanoribbons to oxidizing environments significantly oxidizes the ribbons and disrupts their electronic properties. Experiments show that even under gentle conditions, the ribbons are oxidized, providing insights into the reaction sites and defects caused by oxygen.

Summary: The structure, phase morphology, rheology, and mechanical properties of PU/ZnI composite films were studied. It was found that the addition of ZnI had no significant effect on the crystallinity of PU, but greatly influenced the tensile and elongation at break properties of the composite films. The storage modulus of the blends decreased with increasing ZnI content and exhibited two glass transition temperature peaks. Additionally, the surface hydrophobicity of the composite films was improved and the ultraviolet transmittance of PU increased with increasing ZnI content.

Summary: The synergistic combinations of pullulan, agar, montmorillonite (MMT) clay, and quaternary ammonium silane (QAS) in the active nanocomposites showed improved properties in terms of UV transmittance, thermal and mechanical properties, and antimicrobial activity. The concentration of MMT clay played a crucial role in the properties of the nanocomposites, while the addition of long alkyl chain in QAS enhanced the hydrophobic nature of the composites. Synergistic effects were observed in rheological properties with the combination of Pullulan/agar/MMT clay/QAS.
