Summary: The transdermal application of actives offers advantages such as a stable level of drugs in the blood and reduced side effects. However, the exceptional skin barrier and unsuitable physico-chemical properties of drugs limit their transdermal passage. Incorporating drugs into lipid nanocapsules can enhance their permeation through the skin barrier. This study demonstrates the importance of lipid nanocapsules in enhancing the topical application of actives.

Summary: Lipid core nanocapsules coated with multiple polymer layers were designed to deliver camptothecin to colon cancer cells. The coating materials chosen were chitosan, hyaluronic acid, and hypromellose phthalate, to improve the mucoadhesive and permeability properties of camptothecin. The nanoencapsulation reduced the permeation rate through the intestinal mucosa and exhibited localized antiangiogenic action.

Summary: This study investigated the pharmacokinetics of intact lipid nanocapsules after intravenous administration in rats, revealing that the elimination of FRET-LNCs was non-linear and dependent on size and surface modification, while the distribution was dependent on size. LNCs with PEG coating displayed a lower clearance than other formulations.

Summary: In this study, inositol nanocapsules were successfully synthesized with good performance by adjusting the synthesis conditions. The time for adding precursors should increase with the amount of precursors to obtain nanocapsules with good morphology and phase-change characteristics. The size of the nanocapsules is significantly affected by the amount of triethoxysilane (TES).

Summary: In this paper, we propose a general field theory for nearly flat fluid membranes with embedded activators and analyze their critical properties using renormalization group techniques. Depending on the membrane-activator coupling, we find a crossover between acoustic and diffusive scaling regimes. This study is important for understanding the spatiotemporal patterns observed at the leading edge of motile cells.

Summary: This study synthesized new modified imaging nanocapsules containing Morus nigra extract by selenium nanoparticles prepared from Lactobacillus acidophilus. The antibacterial activities of the modified contrast agents were investigated, and the influence of various factors on the activity was studied. The structure and morphology of the synthesized contrast agents were characterized using multiple techniques.

Summary: Research on colloidal dispersions has shown that gels can be formed from lipid vesicles with varying charge ratios, affecting their microstructure and rheological properties. A lipid gel with a charge ratio of 20:1 exhibited the highest resistance to deformation, while deviations from this ratio decreased its rigidity. Understanding how electrostatic balance influences gel properties can help tailor gel composition for specific applications.

Summary: The aim of this study was to incorporate benznidazole into lipid nanocapsules to improve its solubility, dissolution rate, and permeability. The lipid nanocapsules were prepared by the phase inversion technique and fully characterized. The results showed that these lipid nanocarriers protected benznidazole in simulated gastric fluid and provided sustained release in simulated intestinal fluid containing pancreatic enzymes. The drug permeability across the intestinal epithelium was improved by 10-fold compared to the non-encapsulated drug, without affecting the integrity of the cell monolayers.

Summary: The study found that LNCs-PTX were taken up by MDA-MB-468 cells more effectively than the other two cell lines. Additionally, the cytotoxicity of LNCs-PTX on cells was primarily attributed to endocytosis mechanisms involving Cdc42/GRAF-dependent endocytosis and macropinocytosis.

Summary: The study showed that overweight and obesity are linked to poor early prognosis in T2D patients hospitalized for COVID-19, especially in those under the age of 75. The negative impact of obesity on COVID-19 prognosis was not observed in elderly patients aged over 75, indicating a need for specific management in this population.

Summary: The French national experience using chest CT for COVID-19 was evaluated by comparing results with RT-PCR assays and final discharge diagnosis. Chest CT showed high sensitivity, specificity, negative predictive value, and positive predictive value in diagnosing COVID-19. The use of chest CT for initial diagnosis and triage of COVID-19 patients was successful, regardless of varying disease prevalence in different geographic areas.
